JNU Guest Faculty Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi has released Advertisement No. RC/GF/2026/01 to engage two Guest Faculty in the Centre for Ayurveda Biology for the Monsoon Semester 2026. Both posts are at the Assistant Professor (Guest Faculty) level and are meant for candidates with a background in Ayurveda. Selection is based only on your performance in the interview — there is no written exam.

Vacancy Breakdown

  • Post 01 — Guest Faculty: M.D. (Ayurveda) with specialization in Rasa Shastra Bhaishajya Kalpana from a recognized university/institute.
  • Post 02 — Guest Faculty: M.D. (Ayurveda) with specialization in Ayurveda Samhita or Maulik Siddhant from a recognized university/institute.

Both posts are in the Centre for Ayurveda Biology, School of Sanskrit & Indic Studies, for the Monsoon Semester 2026. You must fill a separate application form for each post you want.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification (as per UGC Regulations 2018)

  • A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the relevant subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university.
  • You must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. as per UGC norms. Ph.D. holders who meet the 2009/2016 UGC conditions are exempt from NET.

Post-specific Requirement

  • Post 01: M.D. (Ayurveda) with specialization in Rasa Shastra Bhaishajya Kalpana.
  • Post 02: M.D. (Ayurveda) with specialization in Ayurveda Samhita or Maulik Siddhant.

A 5% relaxation in marks is allowed for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) and Persons with Disabilities.

Age Limit

  • There is no general upper age limit for applicants.
  • Superannuated (retired) teachers can also apply, subject to a maximum age limit of 70 years.

Salary

  • You will get a honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture.
  • The total honorarium is capped at Rs. 50,000 per month.
  • Guest Faculty are not entitled to allowances, pension, gratuity or leave given to regular teachers of the University.

The engagement is only for the Monsoon Semester 2026. Your eligibility is decided based on the qualifications and experience you have as on the last date of application. No claim for regularisation or extension of contract will be entertained, and the contract may be ended by the University without giving reasons.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

  1. Shortlisting: The academic score (as per UGC Regulations 2018, Appendix II) is used only to shortlist candidates for the interview.
  2. Interview: The final selection is based only on your performance in the interview. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email only.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Ayurveda subjects (Rasa Shastra Bhaishajya Kalpana / Ayurveda Samhita / Maulik Siddhant) to students of the Centre.
  • Prepare lesson plans, lecture notes and study material as per the syllabus.
  • Take the assigned lectures during the Monsoon Semester 2026.
  • Guide students in their coursework and clear their subject doubts.
  • Evaluate assignments, tests and internal assessments.
  • Support seminars, workshops and other academic activities of the Centre.

Minimum Qualification

M.D. (Ayurveda) in the required specialization, with a Master's degree (55% marks) and NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. as per UGC Regulations 2018

Preferred Qualification

Ph.D. in the relevant Ayurveda subject
