JNPA Legal Expert Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is engaging a Legal Expert on contract at its port establishment in Sheva, Navi Mumbai. The engagement supports the authority’s legal and regulatory work connected with port and infrastructure activities. You would join under the separate contract conditions set out in the notice’s annexures.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The engagement lasts one year from joining. It does not give you a right to regular appointment or the same employment rights as regular port staff.
• Working arrangements: Your working days and hours follow those of regular staff. You may need to stay beyond normal hours when work demands it, and you need permission before leaving headquarters.
• Leave: Weekly days off, closed holidays, national holidays and casual leave follow the provisions for regular officers, with permission from the reporting head of department. Absence without reporting for duty leads to a proportionate pay deduction.
• Ending the contract: JNPA can end the contract without notice. If you resign, you must give one month’s advance notice; leaving without notice or without its acceptance can lead to forfeiture of consolidated pay due.
• Other work: You cannot take another assignment during this engagement. Consider this restriction before accepting the contract.
• Housing: Port quarters may be offered if available, subject to mutual agreement and user charges applicable to regular staff. Accommodation is conditional on availability.
• Conduct and confidentiality: You must protect information accessed during the engagement and follow the Official Secrets Act, 1923. Misconduct or attributable loss to JNPA property may lead to penal action.
• Changes to duties: The responsibilities in the annexures are indicative. JNPA can adjust them to meet its organisational needs.
• Personal expenses: Travel, boarding and lodging for recruitment or joining are your responsibility. Official tours during service have separate provisions in the notice.
• Recruitment decisions: JNPA may change or cancel recruitment. False information or certificates can lead to cancellation, termination and exclusion from future JNPA recruitment.
• Disputes: Courts, tribunals and forums in Mumbai have exclusive jurisdiction over legal proceedings connected with this recruitment.
