About This Job

The Office of the ADG, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Jharkhand, Ranchi is hiring 1 Chief Technical Officer (CTO) on a contractual basis (Unreserved) for the state-level Cyber Crime Police Station. CID Jharkhand Chief Technical Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Home Department, Government of Jharkhand has sanctioned the contractual post of Chief Technical Officer (vide letter No. PS/01/2012-502 dated 11.01.2013) for setting up the state-level Cyber Crime Police Station under the aegis of CID Jharkhand. The CTO will work at CID Ranchi and lead technical work on cyber crime investigations, security and forensic tools. Initial appointment is for one year, extendable based on satisfactory performance. The recruitment is conducted via newspaper advertisement and the Jharkhand Police webportal.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Minimum Education: Bachelor of Engineering in IT/Computer Science or equivalent, OR MCA from a recognised institute
• Desired Education: M.Tech in CS/IT/Information Security or equivalent from a reputed institution
• Global Certifications: CEH/CISM/CISSP or equivalent preferable

Work Experience

• Minimum 5 years of work experience in a reputed organisation involved in IT
• Working with a police organisation in domains of crimes, criminals, intelligence, terrorists or naxal database will be an added advantage

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in security and forensic tools (Burp Suite, Winhex, Kali Linux, Metasploit, NMAP, NIKTO, ZAP, Ghidra), Mobile/System/Network/Database Forensic Tools
• Programming/Scripting languages: C, C++, Java, Python
• Data analysis (call logs, system logs) and hardware extraction from smart phones, laptops, hard disks, routers
• Operating Systems: Windows (7/8/8.1/10/11), Linux and Apple OS
• Databases: Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL
• Development Technologies: PHP, ASP.Net, Java, Drupal, Joomla, Postnuke, WordPress
• Web Servers: Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Nginx
• Must be conversant with networking protocols, internet protocols and wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi)
• Packages: MS Office, Adobe Studio (Dreamweaver, Framework) and AI Tools like Chat GPT/Gemini

Salary

• Consolidated remuneration of up to Rs. 60,000 per month (all inclusive, upper limit)
• This is the maximum consolidated honorarium and no separate allowances are paid
• The post is contractual and not entitled to pension benefits

• Lead technical operations at the state-level Cyber Crime Police Station, CID Ranchi
• Analyse digital evidence and extract data from smart phones, laptops, hard disks, routers and other hardware
• Write programs and scripts to analyse call logs, system logs and large datasets for criminal investigations
• Operate security and forensic tools (Kali Linux, Burp Suite, Winhex, NMAP, ZAP) to support cyber crime cases
• Coordinate with police officers on cases involving crimes, criminals, intelligence, terrorists and naxal databases
• Maintain and secure networking, internet and wireless technology infrastructure of the cyber cell
• Provide expert testimony and presentations as required in cyber crime investigations
• Mentor junior technical staff on emerging tools, AI applications and security best practices
