ISRO HSFC Medical Officer SD Recruitment 2026: Overview

Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is recruiting Medical Officer-SD specialists for its human spaceflight work. Based in Bengaluru under the Department of Space, the centre develops expertise in bioastronautics, human space sciences and space habitat systems.

These regular Group A medical roles connect clinical practice with astronaut health and research. Your work can support the medical systems used before, during and after human space missions.

Posts and Disciplines

• General Medicine: This stream brings internal-medicine expertise to clinical assessment and research on how the human body responds to demanding conditions.
• Physiology: This stream focuses on changes in body function during training, flight and recovery.
• Aerospace Medicine: This stream connects astronaut health, operational medical support and flight-related medical decisions.

Post-wise Duties

General Medicine

You will use clinical assessment and investigation results to support medical decisions and emergency care. The work also includes studies of responses to stress and the environment, technology-based health monitoring and tracking astronauts during training.

Physiology

You will study physiological changes during training and spaceflight, including responses to pressure changes and centrifuge conditions. You will also work with sports-medicine teams on exercise and countermeasures, and lead studies of recovery after flight.

Aerospace Medicine

You will support astronaut medical certification and crew health, set health protocols and monitor training. The role includes in-flight medical support as a crew flight surgeon, rehabilitation after missions and coordination with the teams responsible for crew health.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Posting: Although HSFC is based in Bengaluru, you may be placed at an ISRO or Department of Space centre elsewhere in India when needed.
• Applications for different posts: You can apply for more than one post, but the centre may schedule their interviews at the same time. A separate application is needed for each post.
