IRCTC Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) is taking on apprentice trainees for its East Zone under the Apprenticeship Act. The engagement is part of its skill-building programme, with training in the organisation’s zonal, regional and area offices. Posts and Disciplines

• Graduate Apprentice: This is the graduate training stream in the East Zone engagement. It shares the office-location arrangements and apprenticeship conditions set out in the notice.
• Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA) Apprentice: This is the trade apprenticeship stream. Your training remains tied to the trade for which IRCTC selects you.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training tenure: Both streams run for 12 months. You leave the apprenticeship on completion of the training period and cannot claim regular employment through this engagement.
• Work locations: The notice names Kolkata, Guwahati, Patna, Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol, New Jalpaiguri, Ranchi and Tatanagar. These include zonal, regional and area offices, so you should consider the full set of locations when deciding whether the engagement suits you.
• Trade choice: IRCTC will not accept a request to switch trades after selection. You will train only in the trade offered to you.
• Leaving training: Once selected for training, you cannot withdraw except for circumstances beyond your control. Consider your ability to complete the engagement before accepting an offer.
• Travel costs: IRCTC will not pay travelling, daily or conveyance allowances when you attend certificate checks. You need to make your own arrangements for that visit.
• Stand-by offers: A place on the stand-by list does not itself mean a joining offer. IRCTC will use that list after it receives information about absentees and rejected applicants from the main list.
• Communication: IRCTC will send the tentative reporting schedule by email only. Be ready to report to the concerned office at short notice when called.
• Reservation: The engagement follows the applicable government reservation rules. Any claim you make must meet the relevant conditions stated in the notification.
• Changes to the intake: IRCTC may increase or reduce the intake according to its requirements. Any such change will appear on its website.
• No agents: IRCTC has not authorised agents to arrange engagement. False claims, impersonation, forged records or attempts to use outside influence can lead to rejection.
