IIT Ropar Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is building a project team in its Department of Electrical Engineering for a Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology-funded research project. The work sits at the intersection of antennas, wireless communication, microwave engineering and engineered electromagnetic surfaces. Post-wise Duties

JRF / Project Associate-I

You will support antenna design, simulation and optimisation and help turn models into tested hardware. Depending on the task, you may work with HFSS or CST, wireless-communication concepts, metasurfaces and antenna arrays while recording results for the project team.

The role also calls for careful comparison between simulated and measured performance. You should be comfortable learning new design workflows, troubleshooting prototypes and explaining technical results to the principal investigator and other researchers.

Research Associate-III

You will take on deeper work in antenna and microwave engineering, including metamaterials, frequency-selective surfaces and reflectors. The role is suited to someone who can define an investigation, evaluate design trade-offs and connect the results to the project's larger technical goals.

You will also help shape research outputs suitable for publication. A strong grasp of experimental evidence, technical writing and reproducible analysis will be important when the team reviews progress and prepares project reports.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: the positions are offered for a three-year period and end when the project closes.
  • Nature of appointment: these are purely temporary project roles; selection does not create a claim to a regular IIT Ropar position.
  • National test requirement: applicants for the junior role should hold a valid GATE score or another accepted national-level qualification.
  • Alternative consideration: the institute may consider a junior applicant without GATE under its rules, but on different financial terms.
  • Research record: the senior role needs a paper in a Science Citation Indexed journal; candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis may also apply.

Responsibilities

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

BTech/BE/MSc or MTech/ME/MS in a relevant engineering, science or computing field with 60% marks or 6/10 CGPA for JRF/Project Associate-I; PhD-level qualification for Research Associate-III.

Preferred Qualification

Research Associate-III candidates should have expertise in antenna and microwave engineering, metamaterials, frequency-selective surfaces or reflectors.

Required Skills

Antenna design and simulation, HFSS, CST, wireless communication, optimisation, hardware development and testing, metasurfaces or antenna arrays; advanced role-specific expertise in microwave engineering and metamaterials.

Salary & Compensation

Pay Scale

JRF / Project Associate-I: Rs. 37,000 + 10% HRA; Research Associate-III: Rs. 67,000 + 10% HRA. Applicants without GATE may be considered at lower pay under institute rules.

Allowances

House Rent Allowance at 10% is specified for both posts.
