IISER Pune Post-Doctoral Fellow & RA-I Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER Pune), declared an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in 2012, is hiring for two research positions in quantum materials and optical spectroscopy. These roles sit within cutting-edge funded projects exploring Faraday and Kerr spectroscopy for 2D quantum materials and the National Quantum Mission. Both positions are temporary and contractual, ideal for researchers looking to work at the frontier of condensed matter physics.

Who Can Apply?

For Chanakya Post-Doctoral Fellow (Post No. 1):

• Qualification: Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics with specialization in Magnetism and/or Semiconductors research.
• Thesis submitted candidates: If you have submitted your Ph.D. thesis but not yet completed the defence, you can apply as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) instead.
• Preference: Candidates with experience in optical/magneto-optical spectroscopy on semiconductors and a good publication record will be preferred.

For Research Associate-I (Post No. 2):

• Qualification: Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics with specialization in Magnetism and/or Semiconductors research.
• Thesis submitted candidates: If you have submitted your thesis but not defended it, you can apply as SRF at a lower salary.
• Preference: Experience in optical/magneto-optical spectroscopy on semiconductors and a strong publication record are necessary.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on the last date of application (01 April 2026).
• Age relaxation may be considered for candidates with higher qualifications and experience, with prior approval of the competent authority.

Salary

• Chanakya Post-Doctoral Fellow: Rs. 80,000 per month (consolidated)
• Senior Research Fellow (SRF) under Post No. 1: Rs. 60,000 per month (consolidated, for thesis-submitted candidates)
• Research Associate-I: Rs. 58,000 per month + 27% House Rent Allowance
• SRF under Post No. 2: Rs. 42,000 per month + 27% HRA (for thesis-submitted candidates)

Selection Process

Selection will be done through a single stage:

1. Interview (Online via Zoom): Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview conducted entirely online through Zoom software. The shortlist, along with date, time, and other details, will be published on the IISER Pune website and candidates will be informed by email.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

• Conduct experimental research in condensed matter physics focusing on magnetism and semiconductor materials

• Analyse experimental data and prepare research publications for peer-reviewed journals
• Assist the Principal Investigator with project deliverables and reporting to the funding agency
• Maintain laboratory equipment, document experimental procedures, and train junior researchers
