IISc Civil Engineering Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is hiring project staff for its Department of Civil Engineering in Bengaluru. The temporary contract appointments support the project Quantum algorithms and architecture for next generation diagnostics and beyond at scale, funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). Led by Dr. Keshav Bharadwaj Ravi, the project brings together civil engineering research and computational approaches.
Posts and Disciplines
- Project Trainee: The notice groups Laboratory Assistant, Technician, Project Assistant and Field Assistant under this role. Its stated area of interest is civil engineering laboratory work.
- Research Associate I, structural research: This postdoctoral role relates to structural health monitoring, fatigue and data from sensors used in civil engineering. The notice also highlights machine learning tools.
- Research Associate I, computational research: This separate postdoctoral role has a computational focus, connecting programming with quantum algorithms and applied engineering.
- Senior Research Fellow: This role covers civil, mechanical, aerospace and allied engineering areas, with non-destructive testing and instrumentation highlighted in the notice.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract period: Your initial appointment lasts 2 months. An extension up to a year depends on satisfactory performance. The notice describes these appointments as temporary project contracts.
- Joining: If selected, you must be ready to join immediately after receiving the offer. Keep this condition in mind when considering your current commitments.
- Accommodation: IISc will not provide accommodation on campus during your appointment. You will need to make your own arrangements for your stay.
- Travel: No travel or daily allowance is available for attending the interview. If you are asked to attend in person, you must cover the cost yourself.
- Project and study: The notice says the project has publication potential and may contribute to thesis work if you separately secure admission as a student in the department. A project appointment does not itself give you student admission.
- Recruitment discretion: IISc may reject an application or cancel recruitment for a post for administrative reasons. The principal investigator may also leave a position vacant if a suitable candidate is not available.
- Accuracy of your details: IISc will check the information in your resume before announcing results. Claims that you cannot support with authentic evidence can lead to rejection.
