Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) is hiring a Research Associate in Data Science for its Interdisciplinary Decision Sciences and Analytics Lab (IDeAL). This is a contract role at the institute’s main campus in Gambheeram village, Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam. The lab brings research, consultancy, product development and training together around problems facing India and other emerging economies.

Mathematical optimisation and data science sit at the centre of the lab’s work. Its wider research includes artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, cloud computing, graph analytics, game theory, cyber-physical systems and pervasive computing. You would join a lab whose projects connect several disciplines, with links to both government and industry.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract and extension: The appointment starts with a one-year fixed term. An extension depends on your performance and the institute’s requirements, so it is not automatic.
• Campus and reassignment: Your initial posting is at the main campus in Visakhapatnam. The institute may move you to another department or division, or add duties, when its work requires this.
• Working hours: Normal hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. You may also need to work on holidays or beyond these hours, particularly when project deliverables need attention.
• Ownership of work: The institute owns the intellectual property, data, code and documentation produced during your engagement. You must keep project and sponsor information confidential.
• Joining: If offered the position, you must join within thirty days of receiving the offer. If you are currently employed, you need to be formally relieved before joining.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the stated requirements does not guarantee that you will be shortlisted. The institute can limit the number considered using relevant criteria and will contact only shortlisted applicants.
• Future requirements: IIMV may form a pool of prospective recruits for present and future needs. It also retains the option to leave the position unfilled or cancel the advertisement.
