CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) is recruiting project staff at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh under advertisement 17/2026. Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Project Associate: positions relate to stress-induced cell death in Arabidopsis, genome editing for crop improvement and chemistry research under the Aroma programme.
• Project Associate-I in plant and agricultural sciences: the Aroma programme includes agronomy, plant breeding, soil science, plant physiology, microbiology and molecular biology. Separate position codes distinguish the specialisations within this shared project.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: the Arabidopsis, GE-Crop and agrotechnology acceptance projects run up to 31 March 2027; Smart Village runs up to 31 March 2028; and Aroma runs up to 31 March 2029. An engagement ends earlier if its project finishes sooner.
• Overall limit: appointments are made on behalf of the sponsoring agency and end with the project tenure or after six years, whichever comes first.
• No regular appointment claim: joining a project does not give you a right to a permanent position at CSIR or CSIR-IHBT.
• Performance reviews: your work is reviewed every six months. The institute may end an engagement if performance is unsatisfactory.
• Travel costs: the institute will not pay a travelling allowance for attending. You need to plan your journey to Palampur accordingly.
• Recruitment decisions: the number finally selected can change according to performance. The Director decides matters relating to engagement, and the competent authority may relax provisions on reasonable grounds.
• Language of the notice: the English version governs if a dispute arises over the wording.
