ICMR-National Institute of Child Health Research Senior Consultant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

ICMR-National Institute of Child Health Research (ICMR-NICHR), Safdarjung Hospital Campus, New Delhi, has issued File No. NICHDR/Consultant/Estab/2024-25/249 dated 12 June 2026. The notice is for one Senior Consultant (Admin.) post on a temporary contractual basis. This is a senior administration role, so the institute is looking for candidates who can handle establishment, finance, audit, legal and service-related matters with maturity.

The initial engagement is for 1 year. Extension can be considered based on performance, work requirement, fund availability and approval, but the total engagement cannot go beyond 5 years or the age of 70 years, whichever comes first. The post is normally for ICMR-NICHR, New Delhi, but the notification says the selected person can be posted elsewhere if the institute requires it.

Who Can Apply?

For Non-Retired Professionals

• Qualification: You need a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject such as Management, Law, Public Administration, Finance & Accounts, CA, ICWAI, Commerce or Economics.
• Experience: You need at least 12 years of experience in Administration, Finance & Accounts, Audit or Legal work.
• Experience Source: Your experience should be from a Government Department, PSU, autonomous body or reputed institution.

For Retired Government Employees

• Qualification: Retired government employees can apply with a bachelor's degree in any discipline.
• Pay Level: You should have worked in Pay Level 7 or above.
• Experience: You need at least 10 years of experience in Management, Law, Public Administration, Finance & Accounts, CA, ICWAI, Commerce, Economics or related work.

Important condition: People already serving in regular time-scale posts under a Government Department or organisation are not eligible for this consultant engagement.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 40 years.
• Maximum age: 70 years.
• Age will be counted as on the last date for submission of application, which is 30 June 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Relaxation will be as per ICMR guidelines, wherever applicable.

Salary

• Consolidated monthly salary: Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 1,50,000.
• For retired government servants, pay will be fixed as per the relevant Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure order mentioned in the notification.
• The post is on consolidated pay, so benefits meant for regular ICMR staff, such as pension scheme, LTC, medical claim or staff quarters, are not applicable.

Selection Process

ICMR-NICHR will shortlist applications based on qualification, experience and documents. The notification says only shortlisted candidates will be called for written test/interview, and a written test may be conducted if required.

1. Application Scrutiny: The institute checks whether the form is complete and whether the candidate meets the required qualification and experience.
2. Written Test, if required: ICMR-NICHR may conduct a written test, but the notification does not mention the question count, marks, subjects or duration.
3. Interview / Personal Discussion: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interaction before final selection.
4. Document Verification: Original certificates and supporting documents will be checked before engagement.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test, interview or personal discussion, so candidates must arrange their own travel and stay.
