ICAR-NRCB Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview
ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana (ICAR-NRCB) is offering Graduate and Technician Apprentice training at its Tiruchirappalli centre. The programme is designed for recent science, agriculture, horticulture and computer-application graduates, together with agriculture or horticulture diploma holders, who want supervised workplace exposure in a national crop-research institute. This is training under the Apprentices Act, not a regular appointment, and completion does not create a right to permanent employment.
Posts and Disciplines
- Biotechnology and Botany: graduate training linked to plant science, laboratory support and banana research activities.
- Life Science: broad biological-science exposure across research and technical units.
- Agriculture and Horticulture: graduate training connected with crop production, field work and research support.
- Biochemistry and Chemistry: laboratory-oriented training involving samples, observations and routine analytical support.
- BCA and Computer Science: work exposure supporting data handling, digital records and routine computer applications.
- Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture: technician-level training that supports field and crop-management activities.
Post-wise Duties
Graduate Apprentice
You will learn how a crop-research centre organises laboratory, field and data-support work. Your actual assignment will follow your degree discipline, and you may help maintain observations, samples, digital records or routine research documentation under supervision.
Technician (Diploma) Apprentice
You will support agriculture and horticulture operations, learn standard field and nursery practices and help technical staff keep work records. The training is practical and is meant to connect your diploma learning with an institutional research setting.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Recent pass-outs: only candidates who completed the relevant qualification during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 can use this notice.
- NATS registration: a valid National Apprenticeship Training Scheme enrolment is mandatory before your application can be considered.
- Previous training: anyone who has already completed or is currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Act cannot apply.
- Work experience: candidates with one year or more of prior experience are not eligible for this apprentice intake.
- Training period: the engagement lasts one year under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973, without any promise of a later regular post.
- Reservation: SC, ST, OBC and PwD claims need certificates in the prescribed government format; an unsupported claim is treated as general category.
- Physical fitness: the minimum standard follows Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and later amendments.
- Verification visit: certificate checking takes place at ICAR-NRCB in Tiruchirappalli, and no travel, boarding or lodging cost is paid.
