Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited (HCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited, has released Vacancy Notification No. HCSL/HR/RECTT/CONT/2026-27/3 for 3 Project Officer posts on a contract basis at its Howrah unit. The recruitment covers 2 posts in Mechanical Engineering and 1 post in Electronics/Electronics & Communication/Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. The contract runs for up to 5 years, with pay rising every year. Engineering graduates with shipbuilding, marine, port, or related industry experience should apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Officer (Mechanical):

• You need a Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks from a recognized university.
• You need a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, port, or engineering company/establishment.

For Project Officer (Electronics):

• You need a Degree in Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering with at least 60% marks.
• You need a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, port, or engineering company/establishment.

Proficiency in a computerized work environment is desirable for both posts. Note that these posts are not identified for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) due to frequent yard and vessel visits.

Age Limit

• You should not be older than 45 years as on 31 July 2026 (born on or after 1 August 1981).
• Age Relaxation: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation on posts reserved for them. Ex-servicemen get relaxation as per Government of India guidelines.
• After all relaxations, the age limit cannot exceed 55 years.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 46,000 per month in the 1st year, rising to Rs. 48,000 (2nd year), Rs. 50,000 (3rd year), Rs. 52,000 (4th year), and Rs. 54,000 (5th year).
• From the third year onward, you also get Rs. 3,000 per month as compensation for extra hours of work.
• You will also get Contributory Provident Fund, Medical Insurance, and Accident Insurance coverage as per HCSL policy.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in 3 stages for a total of 100 marks:

1. Objective Type Test: 50 MCQs for 50 marks in 60 minutes — General Knowledge (10 marks) and Subject-based questions (40 marks). Minimum pass marks are 50% for UR candidates and 45% for OBC candidates.
2. Document Verification: Only candidates who clear the Objective Test are shortlisted and must produce original certificates for age, qualification, experience, and category.
3. PowerPoint Presentation & Personal Interview: PowerPoint Presentation on your work experience (30 marks) and Personal Interview (20 marks), held at Hooghly CSL, Howrah.

Final merit is based on your total marks across the Objective Test, Presentation, and Interview.
