GPSC Assistant Engineer Civil Recruitment 2026 - 175 Posts

Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released Advertisement No. 18/2026-27 for Assistant Engineer (Civil), Class-2 in GWSSB. The job is for civil engineers who want to work on public water supply and sewerage projects in Gujarat. The selection has a preliminary test and interview, with the preliminary test carrying 50% weight and the interview carrying 50% weight in the final score.

Work location and service: selected candidates will work under GWSSB in Gujarat. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Qualification: You must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil) or Technology (Civil) from a recognised university or institution.
• Equivalent Qualification: An equivalent qualification recognised by the Government is also accepted.
• Computer Knowledge: You need basic knowledge of computer applications as required under Gujarat Civil Services rules.
• Language: You should have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Experience: No experience is mentioned for this post.

Age Limit

• You must have completed 20 years on the last date of the advertisement.
• Maximum age is 35 years as on 19 May 2026, the last date for online application.
• SC / ST / SEBC / EWS candidates of Gujarat origin: 5 years relaxation, with maximum age up to 45 years.
• Women candidates: 5 years relaxation, with maximum age up to 45 years.
• Women candidates from Gujarat SC / ST / SEBC / EWS categories: 10 years relaxation including women relaxation, with maximum age up to 45 years.
• Ex-servicemen: Military service period plus 3 years relaxation.

Salary

• Pay scale: Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month.
• Pay level: Level-8 in GWSSB service.
• Probation period: 2 years.
• You will get allowances as per the rules applicable to GWSSB service.

Application Fee

• General / Unreserved: Rs. 100 plus applicable postal charges or online service charges.
• SC / ST / SEBC / EWS candidates of Gujarat, Ex-servicemen and PwD: No fee.
• Reserved category candidates from other states: Rs. 100 plus applicable charges.
• Payment can be made through online mode or post office challan as mentioned in the notification.
• Fee once paid will not be refunded.

Selection Process

The selection process has two main stages:

1. Preliminary Test: The test has 300 questions for 300 marks. General Studies has 100 questions for 100 marks, and the Civil Engineering subject has 200 questions for 200 marks. Total time is 180 minutes.
2. Application Scrutiny and Document Upload: Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on preliminary test marks and must upload required certificates on the GPSC document upload portal.
3. Interview: Interview carries 100 marks. For 4 or more vacancies, GPSC calls 3 times the number of vacancies or 20 candidates, whichever is higher, as per rules.

Final merit: Preliminary test marks get 50% weight and interview marks get 50% weight. If you score less than 15% in the preliminary test, you will not be considered for the interview.

6. Pay the fee online or through the allowed post office challan if the fee applies to you.
