Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) has released Advertisement No. 02/2026/Exam dated 08 May 2026 for Assistant Engineer posts under different Chhattisgarh Government departments. The recruitment covers Assistant Engineer Civil and Assistant Engineer Electrical/Mechanical posts. Selection may be through written exam and interview, and if applications are limited the Commission may conduct direct interview as per its rules.

Who Can Apply?

• Educational qualification: Bachelor degree in the relevant Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline from a recognized university or institution.
• Civil AE note: For the Assistant Engineer Civil post in the General Administration Department, AMIE Part A and B equivalence is mentioned in the notification.
• Qualification date: Required qualification certificates must be obtained on or before the last date of online application.
• Application documents: The notification says certificates are not required to be attached with the online application, but they must be produced before interview/document verification.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 21 years as on 01 January 2026.
• Maximum age: 30 years as on 01 January 2026.
• Chhattisgarh local resident relaxation: Maximum age can be 40 years as per the state relaxation mentioned in the notification.
• Reserved category relaxation: SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates of Chhattisgarh get relaxation as per state rules.

Salary

• Pay level: Pay Matrix Level 12.
• Pay range: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500.
• Allowances: Dearness allowance and other allowances will be payable as per Chhattisgarh Government orders.
• Probation: Selected candidates will be appointed on 3 years probation.

Application Fee

• Chhattisgarh local SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates: Rs. 300.
• All other categories and candidates from outside Chhattisgarh: Rs. 400.
• Portal fee: Portal fee plus GST is payable by all candidates.
• Correction fee: Paid correction window fee is Rs. 500 after the free correction period.

Selection Process

1. Written Exam: If applications are high, CGPSC will conduct the State Engineering Service written exam.
2. Paper I: General Studies, Chhattisgarh General Knowledge and Intelligence Test - 150 questions, 300 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes.
3. Paper II: Engineering subject paper in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical - 150 questions, 300 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes.
4. Interview: Candidates qualified in the exam will be called for interview. Interview is for 75 marks.
5. Direct Interview Case: If CGPSC decides to take only interview, it will be for 100 marks with qualifying marks as stated in the notification.
