Who Can Apply?

Deputy Captain of Ports (Level 11):

  • Certificate of Competency as Master of Foreign Going Steamship (valid throughout the Commonwealth)
  • Certificate of sight test (Form-Vision) issued by the Mercantile Marine Department, Government of India
  • About 5 years of experience as Chief Officer on a foreign going steamship
  • Knowledge of Konkani is essential; knowledge of Marathi and the Inland Vessels/Merchant Shipping Acts is desirable

Marine Engineer & Ship Surveyor (Level 11):

  • Certificate of Competency as 1st Class Engineer (Motor) under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958
  • 3 years of experience as 2nd Class Engineer on foreign going or home trade ships
  • Certificate of sight test (Form Vision & Colour Vision) from a Medical Board
  • Knowledge of Konkani is essential; knowledge of Marathi and relevant maritime laws is desirable

Lecturer in Psychiatry (Level 11):

  • A recognised medical qualification under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956
  • A postgraduate degree in Psychiatry from an NMC (National Medical Commission)-recognised medical college
  • At least 3 years of experience as Senior Resident/Registrar/Tutor/Demonstrator after your PG degree
  • Knowledge of Konkani is essential; knowledge of Marathi is desirable

Lecturer in Physics (Level 9A):

  • Master's Degree with at least First Class in Physics or a related Humanities/Science subject (Maths, Chemistry, English, Geology)
  • Knowledge of Konkani is essential; knowledge of Marathi is desirable

Assistant Archivist Grade-I (Level 6):

  • Master's Degree in Indian History from a recognised university
  • 2 years of experience in research or teaching of modern Indian History, or work in a related field
  • A 6-month Certificate Course in Portuguese Language from a recognised institute
  • Knowledge of Konkani is essential; knowledge of Marathi (including Modi script) and a diploma in Archival Science are desirable

Assistant Professor in Tabla (Level 10):

  • Master's Degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the relevant subject
  • NET/SET qualification (Ph.D holders as per UGC 2009 rules are exempt from this requirement)
  • Knowledge of Konkani is essential; Ph.D/M.Phil in the subject and knowledge of Marathi are desirable

Age Limit

  • You should not be more than 45 years old for any of these 8 posts.
  • Age limits are relaxable at the Commission's discretion for candidates who are otherwise well-qualified.

Salary

  • Deputy Captain of Ports, Marine Engineer & Ship Surveyor, Lecturer in Psychiatry: Pay Level 11 — approximately Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month.
  • Assistant Professor in Tabla: Pay Level 10, as per the revised pay matrix.
  • Lecturer in Physics: Pay Level 9A, as per the pay matrix.
  • Assistant Archivist Grade-I: Pay Level 6, as per the pay matrix.
  • You will also get Dearness Allowance and other allowances as per Goa Government rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Goa PSC selects candidates directly through an interview, following this process:

  1. Shortlisting: If a large number of applications are received for a post, the Commission will shortlist candidates using criteria published in the official Instructions.
  2. Document Verification: Your certificates and qualifications are checked before you are called for interview.
  3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview, and the final selection is based on this.

Responsibilities

  • Manage port operations, vessel traffic and maritime safety compliance (Deputy Captain of Ports)
  • Inspect and survey ships for engineering and safety standards (Marine Engineer & Ship Surveyor)
  • Teach postgraduate students and treat patients at the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (Lecturer in Psychiatry)
  • Deliver Physics lectures and practicals to polytechnic students (Lecturer in Physics)
  • Preserve, catalogue and research historical government records (Assistant Archivist Grade-I)
  • Teach Tabla and guide students in the Government College's music programme (Assistant Professor in Tabla)
  • Prepare reports, maintain departmental records and coordinate with your reporting officer
