GNEC Senior Resident Ophthalmology Recruitment 2026: Overview

Guru Nanak Eye Centre (GNEC), under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, is recruiting a Senior Resident in Ophthalmology at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Marg, Delhi. The appointment is an ad hoc arrangement for an immediate staffing need under the Residency Scheme. The centre will fill the position through a walk-in recruitment exercise.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial term: Your appointment lasts for 44 days or until a regular recruit fills the vacancy, whichever happens first. This is a short engagement rather than an assurance of a full residency term.
  • Possible extension: An extension may follow a one-day break if you request it in writing and the Head of Department gives a satisfactory report on your work and conduct. Extension is conditional, not automatic.
  • Overall residency ceiling: Senior Residency can total no more than three years. Earlier ad hoc and regular service counts towards that limit.
  • Regular appointment: The ad hoc appointment gives you no claim over the post. Your service ends without notice when the regular appointee joins.
  • Joining deadline: You must join within seven days of the appointment offer being issued. If you do not, the offer is cancelled automatically.
  • Transfers: Transfers to another hospital are not allowed. The appointing authority can, however, move your services within the hospital or centre.
  • Travel costs: The centre will not pay travelling or daily allowances for attending the interview.
  • Changes to the drive: The vacancy position is provisional. The Head of Department may amend, cancel or postpone all or part of the recruitment.
