GMC Satara is run by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, under the Government of Maharashtra. The college has released a notification to fill 36 teaching posts on a contract basis. These include 7 Professor, 8 Associate Professor and 21 Assistant Professor vacancies in clinical and non-clinical departments. The college was set up in 2021 and runs an MBBS course with a yearly intake of 100 students, so this is a chance to help shape a young and growing government medical institution.

The engagement is purely contractual for up to 364 days or until a regular candidate joins, whichever comes first. The post you are given may change if a regular faculty member becomes available. Both experienced doctors and retired professionals can apply, which is why the age limit is kept generous.

Who Can Apply?

You need the medical teaching qualifications and experience laid down by the National Medical Commission (NMC) Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) for each post.

For Professor and Associate Professor

• Qualification: A postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant specialty, with the teaching experience required under NMC rules.
• Preference: Retired professors and experienced faculty can also be engaged on contract.

For Assistant Professor

• Qualification: A postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the concerned subject as per NMC TEQ norms.

• Registration: You must hold a valid permanent registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council or the National Medical Commission.
• Domicile: You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Maharashtra.

Age Limit

• Your age should not be more than 69 years as on 1 July 2026.
• The upper age limit is kept high so that experienced and retired doctors can also join on contract.

Salary

• Professor: Rs. 2,00,000 per month (consolidated).
• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,65,000 per month (consolidated).
• Assistant Professor: Rs. 1,00,000 per month (consolidated).
• The pay is a fixed monthly amount approved by the Government of Maharashtra for contract faculty.

Application Fee

• All candidates: Rs. 100 (non-refundable form fee).
• You pay the fee at the college office when you collect and submit the application form.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test. Selection is done through a walk-in interview:

1. Submission of Application: Submit your filled form with self-attested documents in person at the college office.
2. Interview: Attend the interview in person on the notified date with your original documents.
3. Document Verification: Your certificates and experience are checked before appointment.

3. Submit the form in person at the administrative office of GMC Satara between 1 July 2026 and 15 July 2026 (up to 6:00 PM, except Sundays and government holidays).
4. Pay the form fee of Rs. 100 at the office.
5. Keep the acknowledgement and appear for the interview with your original documents.

Important Points to Note

• This is a purely contractual engagement — it does not give you any right to a regular appointment, and the service is not counted for other benefits.
• Once you join, you cannot leave the post for at least one academic session, and you must give an affidavit to this effect.
• You must submit a medical fitness certificate at the time of joining.
• The college can change the number of posts or cancel the advertisement at any time.
