Government Medical College, Gondia, under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra, has released a notification to fill 11 Professor posts and 2 Associate Professor posts on a contract basis, to meet the teaching and patient-care needs of students and patients at the college. Both retired faculty members and non-retired candidates from private or other sectors who meet the National Medical Commission's (NMC) eligibility norms can apply. Who Can Apply?

For Professor Posts (Rs. 2,00,000/month):

• You need a postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant subject.
• As per the NMC Notification dated 30 June 2025, you must have worked as an Associate Professor in the subject for 3 years in a permitted, approved, or recognized medical college. Armed Forces Specialist Medical Officers with at least 3 years as Associate Professor in a teaching hospital of the armed forces can also apply.
• You should have at least 4 research publications (at least 2 as Associate Professor) in journals indexed with Medline, PubMed Central, Scopus, or similar recognized indexes, where you are among the first three authors or the corresponding author.
• You must have completed the basic course in biomedical research from an institution designated by the NMC.

For Associate Professor Posts (Rs. 1,85,000/month):

• You need a postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant subject.
• You must have worked as an Assistant Professor in the subject for 4 years in a permitted, approved, or recognized medical college. Armed Forces Specialist Medical Officers with at least 5 years as Assistant Professor in a teaching hospital of the armed forces can also apply.
• You should have at least 2 research publications in recognized indexed journals, as one of the first three authors or the corresponding author.
• You must have completed the basic course in biomedical research from an NMC-designated institution.

You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Maharashtra to apply for these posts.

Age Limit

• Your age should not exceed 69 years at the time of appointment.
• Both retired teachers (as per government norms) and non-retired candidates from private or other institutions who meet the NMC-prescribed qualification are eligible to apply.

Salary

• Professor: Consolidated pay of Rs. 2,00,000 per month (all allowances included), applicable to retired and non-retired candidates alike.
• Associate Professor: Consolidated pay of Rs. 1,85,000 per month (all allowances included).

Selection Process

Selection for these contract posts happens in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting Based on Academic Record: The college prepares a provisional merit list based on 85 marks covering your qualifications, experience, and research record (as detailed in Appendix-A of the notification).
2. Document Verification and Interview: Shortlisted candidates go through document verification and a personal interview, together worth 100 marks. You need a minimum of 41% marks in this stage to be considered for the contract appointment.

No TA/DA (travel allowance) is paid for attending the interview, and you must bring all original documents.
