DMER Maharashtra has released a notification to fill 20 teaching posts at Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College, Baramati, covering 11 Professor and 9 Associate Professor positions across specialties like General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Psychiatry and Radiology. These are contract appointments for 364 days made against vacant regular posts through an interim selection process, valid until regular candidates are available. Both retired medical teachers and private-sector doctors who meet National Medical Commission (NMC) eligibility norms can apply. Who Can Apply?

For Professor Posts:

• You need an MD/MS/DNB degree (or equivalent) in the concerned specialty, recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
• Experience: At least 3 years as Associate Professor in a recognised medical institution, with at least 2 research papers published as Associate Professor.
• Alternate Pathway: A Specialist Medical Officer of the Armed Forces with at least 3 years of teaching experience as Associate Professor in a teaching hospital of the Armed Forces is also eligible.

For Associate Professor Posts:

• You need an MD/MS/DNB degree (or equivalent) in the concerned specialty, recognised by NMC.
• Experience: At least 4 years as Assistant Professor (5 years if appointed directly in a government medical institution), with at least 2 research papers published as Assistant Professor.
• Alternate Pathway: A non-teaching Consultant, Specialist or Medical Officer with a postgraduate medical degree and 10 years of experience in a government hospital with at least 220 beds can also apply, subject to completing the Basic Course in Medical Education and Biomedical Research within 2 years of appointment.

• Domicile: You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Maharashtra.
• Registration: You must hold a permanent registration certificate with the Maharashtra Medical Council or the National Medical Commission.
• Medical Fitness: You must submit a medical fitness certificate at the time of joining.

Age Limit

• Your age should not be more than 69 years at the time of appointment.
• Retired medical teachers of any age (who meet NMC eligibility norms) as well as private-sector and other-sector candidates can apply for these contract posts.

Salary

• Professor: Rs. 2,00,000 per month (consolidated honorarium).
• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,85,000 per month (consolidated honorarium).
• This is a fixed monthly honorarium for the 364-day contract period, and you are also allowed to continue private medical practice alongside your college and hospital duties, as long as it does not affect your assigned responsibilities.

Application Fee

• All candidates: Rs. 200, payable in cash at the college office against an official government receipt.

Selection Process

The selection will be done based on a total of 100 marks in 2 stages:

1. Merit Shortlisting (85 marks): Based on your PG degree/MBBS/12th marks (up to 50 marks), additional qualification such as DNB/CPS/PhD/Fellowship (5 marks), mandatory teaching experience (20 marks), and mandatory research paper publication (10 marks).
2. Document Verification and Interview (15 marks): Shortlisted candidates go through document verification followed by a personal interview.

You need at least 47 marks out of 100 in the combined document verification and interview stage to be considered for the contract appointment. Note that this is a contract appointment only — it does not create any right to a regular government post, and you will only be entitled to casual leave during the contract period.

2. Fill in the form accurately and attach self-attested copies of your educational, experience and other certificates, arranged in the order listed in the notification (in duplicate).
3. Submit the application in person or by registered post to the Dean's Office, P. A. Holkar Government Medical College, Baramati between 22 July 2026 and 30 July 2026, 11 AM to 5 PM (excluding government holidays).
4. Pay the Rs. 200 application fee in cash at the college office and collect your receipt.
5. Appear for the direct interview on 31 July 2026 at 11 AM at the conference hall of the college, with original certificates. You must attend at your own expense — candidates who skip the interview will not be considered.
