Posts and Disciplines

• Director: The senior position in the circular, with a background focused on the electricity and power sector.

• Executive (Legal): The legal stream within the executive group, linked to electricity and power-sector work.
• Executive (Technical): The technical stream associated with power and electrical engineering.
• Executive (Admin and Accounts): The executive stream covering administration and accounts within the same commission.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: Both deputation and contractual appointments begin with a two-year term. You should treat that as the initial engagement period, rather than a promise of continued service.
• Extensions: Further service depends on satisfactory performance, the commission’s continuing need for your work and its approval. For a contract extension, the terms will be decided at that time.
• Contract status: A contractual appointment does not create a right to regular appointment, absorption or regularisation at GERC. This condition applies even when the engagement is extended.
• Contract leave: You can receive 12 days of casual leave each year. An additional 15 days of special leave can be used for emergencies, subject to approval by the competent authority.
• Special-leave carry-forward: Unused special leave may move into the next year, with a maximum accumulated balance of 30 days. Approval follows the principles used for earned leave.
• Deputation leave: Your parent organisation’s leave rules continue to apply under the deputation route. The contractual leave provisions should therefore not be assumed to apply to deputation staff.
• Employer release: Government departments and public-sector employers should forward deputation applications only when they can release the officer if selected. Your employer must check the particulars against service records.
