The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) is hiring 1 Medical Officer on a contract basis at its Polyclinic in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir. The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), run under the Ministry of Defence, has invited applications to engage one Medical Officer on a contractual basis at ECHS Polyclinic Udhampur (Jammu & Kashmir). The contract is for one year (up to 31 March 2027) and can be renewed based on your performance. Preference will be given to Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and widows of Ex-Servicemen as per the reservation rules.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: MBBS degree from a recognised institution.
• Experience: At least 3 years of work experience after completing your internship.
• Preferred: An additional qualification in Medicine or Surgery is an advantage.
• Preference: Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and widows of Ex-Servicemen are preferred as per reservation rules.

Age Limit

• No fixed upper age is given in the notice. The contract runs till you attain the maximum age allowed under ECHS rules.

Salary

• You will get a fixed remuneration of Rs. 95,000 per month.
• For Ex-Servicemen, the pay is fixed after adjusting the last pension drawn, as per ECHS guidelines.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done through an interview:

1. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, tentatively on 25 July 2026 (or later). You will be informed of the exact date and time.
2. Document Verification: Bring all original certificates, mark sheets, experience proof and (for ESM) discharge book, PPO and service records.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. Selected candidates must complete 10 days of unpaid On-Job Training (OJT).

How to Apply

1. Download the application form and terms & conditions from the ECHS website at echs.gov.in.
2. Fill the form in the correct format and attach self-attested copies of your qualification and experience certificates, a medical certificate signed by SEMO/CMO, and a character/police verification certificate.
3. Put everything in a sealed envelope.
4. Drop the sealed envelope in the Tender Box at Station Cell (ECHS), Udhampur on or before 20 July 2026 (2 PM).

Applications received after 20 July 2026 (2 PM) will not be accepted.

• Examine and treat ex-servicemen, their dependents and other beneficiaries at the ECHS Polyclinic.
• Run the daily OPD, diagnose illnesses and prescribe medicines.
• Refer patients to specialists or empanelled hospitals when needed.
• Handle basic medical emergencies and first aid.
• Keep proper medical records and treatment history of patients.
• Follow ECHS rules and Standard Treatment Guidelines during duty.
