The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Viluppuram is empanelling 20 Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) to assist parents and guardians of children in cases related to "Missing Children" at police stations. If you have passed 12th class and are between 25 and 65 years old, you can apply. The last date to submit your application by post is 25 May 2026, 5:30 PM. PLVs will receive an honorarium of Rs. 1,000 per visit (maximum Rs. 5,000 per case).
DLSA Viluppuram Para Legal Volunteers Recruitment 2026 - 20 Posts (Notification No. 01/2026)
Following the Hon'ble Supreme Court order in Bachpan Bachao Andolan vs Union of India and Others and the Tamil Nadu Government Order G.O.(Ms) No. 130 dated 12.03.2026, the DLSA Viluppuram — along with the Taluk Legal Services Committees of Tindivanam, Sankarapuram, Vanur, Vikravandi and Tiruvennainallur — is selecting Para Legal Volunteers to be posted at police stations. Selection will be done through interview only. This is purely temporary work — not a regular government job and you cannot claim permanency.

Who Can Apply?
- Educational Qualification: Minimum 12th class pass. Preference given to those with degrees in Social Work, Psychology or related fields.
- Domicile: You must be a resident of Viluppuram district only
- Empanelled candidates can apply from:
- Social workers and social activists
- Members of non-political voluntary social service organisations (NGO members)
- Psychologists (mental health experts)
- Teachers and retired government employees
- Already empanelled Para Legal Volunteers cannot apply

Honorarium
- Honorarium per visit: Rs. 1,000

Selection Process
Selection is purely based on interview:
- Application Scrutiny: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview
- Personal Interview: Conducted by the DLSA. Candidates must bring original certificates
- Empanelment: Selected candidates are empanelled initially for one year, extendable on performance based on Chairman, DLSA's recommendation

Responsibilities
- Help parents and guardians of missing children during investigation and legal proceedings
- Provide humanitarian support and share information about legal procedures with affected families
- Coordinate with police department officers and work alongside them at police stations
- Give continued support to rescued children after they are recovered
- Help families access government welfare schemes and benefits applicable to them
- Maintain confidentiality of children's identity and follow DLSA protocols at all times
- Report progress of cases regularly to the District Legal Services Authority
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Minimum 12th class pass. Preference given to candidates with degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related fields. Open to social workers, NGO members, psychologists, teachers, and retired government employees from Viluppuram district.
