DIAT Graduate and Diploma Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - 6 Posts

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), a Deemed University under the aegis of the Department of Defence Research and Development, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has announced a walk-in interview for engagement of Graduate and Diploma Apprentices. This one-year apprenticeship training is conducted under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and governed by the Board of Apprenticeship Training, Western Region (BOAT-WR). No application fee is required and candidates from all categories are welcome to apply. Vacancy Details

Category Reservation: As per Government of India norms. Candidates from all categories (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD) can apply. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS categories is applicable as per the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship rules.

Who Can Apply?

For Lab Technician Posts:

• Qualification: Any Engineering or Science Graduate, OR Diploma in Engineering or Science from a recognised university or institution
• The gap between the walk-in interview date and your qualifying degree passing date should not be more than 4 years

For Library Assistant Post:

• Qualification: Graduate in Library Sciences from a recognised university

For Assistant Posts:

• Qualification: Any Graduate from a recognised university

Any citizen of India with the required qualification can attend the walk-in interview.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 27 years old.
• Age Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD candidates is as per Government of India rules in vogue.

Stipend

• Graduate Apprentices: Monthly stipend of Rs. 12,300 (including DBT of Rs. 4,500)
• Diploma Trainees: Monthly stipend of Rs. 10,900 (including DBT of Rs. 4,000)
• Stipend may be revised if the Government of India increases it under the relevant Act or Rules
• No accommodation or travel allowance will be provided by DIAT
• Apprentices are entitled to free primary and OPD medical facility at MI Room, DIAT (for self only) during emergencies

Application Fee

• No application fee is required for any category
• Simply attend the walk-in interview with the prescribed application form and required documents

Selection Process

Selection will be done through a walk-in process:

1. Walk-In Interview / Trade Test: Attend the walk-in at DIAT, Pune on 06 April 2026. Based on your performance in the test and interview, you will be provisionally selected as a Graduate or Diploma Trainee Apprentice.
2. Document Verification: Your selection will be provisional and subject to verification of your original certificates. If any document is found to be incorrect or false at any stage, your candidature will be cancelled.

Only candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted by the screening committee for the trade test and interview.

How to Apply

1. Register on the NATS 2.0 (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) portal at nats.education.gov.in. Your bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar for this.
2. Download and fill the prescribed application form provided along with the notification (available on diat.ac.in).
3. Attend the Walk-In-Interview at DIAT, Girinagar, Near Khadakwasla Dam, Pune-411025 on 6th April 2026 at 11:00 AM.
4. Carry the filled application form along with original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies for verification.

Important Dates

• Training Duration: One Year from the date of joining

• Assist in daily laboratory operations and maintain equipment in assigned departments
• Handle cataloguing, indexing, and shelving of books and research materials in the library
• Prepare and maintain official files, records, and correspondence for the administration section
• Work alongside senior staff to learn standard operating procedures and research protocols
• Follow all safety guidelines and institutional rules during the apprenticeship period
• Monitor and report issues with laboratory instruments, library systems, or office equipment
• Assist in organizing workshops, seminars, and academic events as directed by the department
