District Child Protection Unit, Tirupathur (DCPU Tirupathur) Protection Officer Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts
The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Tirupathur has released a notice (Ref. No. 972/DCPU/PA/2026 dated 06 July 2026) to fill 2 posts of Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care) on a contract basis, to strengthen the unit's day-to-day operations. This is a district-level position under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), a centrally sponsored programme implemented through District Child Protection Units across India to safeguard children in need of care and protection. Under ICPS, the district administration works to prevent child abuse, trafficking and abandonment, and to ensure vulnerable children get family-based support instead of long-term institutional care wherever possible. As a Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care), you will work on foster care, sponsorship, adoption support and after-care services for children in Tirupathur district, Tamil Nadu, rather than institutional (shelter home) placements. Candidates with a background in Social Work, Sociology, Child Development, Psychology or Law are especially suited for this role, and computer proficiency is a must.
The District Child Protection Unit, Tirupathur functions under the chairmanship of the District Collector and is responsible for implementing child protection and welfare programmes across the district. Since this is a single-post recruitment with 2 vacancies, the notice does not provide a separate category-wise (General/OBC/SC/ST) vacancy break-up. As Protection Officer, you will coordinate closely with the Child Welfare Committee on cases involving children in need of care and protection within the district.
Who Can Apply?
As a Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care), your day-to-day work will include home studies for foster care and sponsorship applications, monitoring the well-being of children placed in family-based care, and coordinating after-care support for children leaving institutional care. This role calls for strong interpersonal skills, since you will be working directly with vulnerable children and their families. You can qualify for this post through either of the following two routes:
- Qualification (Option 1): A Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Sociology, Child Development, Human Rights, Public Administration, Psychology, Psychiatry, Law, Public Health, or Community Resource Management from a recognized university. No additional experience is required under this option.
- Qualification (Option 2): A Graduate degree in the same subjects listed above, along with 2 years of experience in project formulation, implementation, monitoring and supervision — preferably in the field of Women & Child Development or Social Welfare.
- Skills: You must have proficiency in computers, since the role involves maintaining case records and reports digitally.
Age Limit
- Your age should not exceed 42 years to be eligible for this post.
- The notice does not mention any age relaxation for reserved categories — the 42-year limit applies to all applicants as stated in the notice.
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a consolidated monthly pay of Rs. 27,804.
- This is a consolidated (thogupputhiyam) pay — a fixed monthly amount, as is standard for contract-basis positions under the ICPS. The notice does not mention separate DA, HRA or other allowances.
Selection Process
Your application will be screened against the eligibility criteria listed above. Only complete applications submitted with all required educational and experience certificates will be considered — incomplete applications, or those missing supporting certificates, will be rejected without prior notice. The DCPU Tirupathur office has stated that no correspondence will be entertained regarding this recruitment. This is a direct recruitment handled by the DCPU Tirupathur office itself — you do not need to go through an employment exchange or placement agency.
