District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Chengalpattu Protection Officer and Case Worker Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Chengalpattu, under the Department of Social Welfare, has invited applications for 4 contractual posts to strengthen child protection services in the district. The recruitment covers 1 Protection Officer (Non-Institutional) post, 1 Case Worker post, and 2 Case Worker posts to work with the Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) covering the Chengalpattu and Tambaram limits. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant field experience. This is a strong opportunity for social work postgraduates and graduates to work directly in child welfare and protection.

DCPUs are set up in every district under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, and act as the nodal body for child protection, rehabilitation, and rescue work at the district level. The Protection Officer and Case Workers hired here will directly handle cases referred by the Child Welfare Committee, the Juvenile Justice Board, and the Special Juvenile Police Unit.

Who Can Apply?

For Protection Officer (Rs. 27,804/month):

  • You need a Post Graduate degree in Social Work / Sociology / Development / Human Rights / Public Administration / Psychology / Psychiatry / Law / Public Health / Community Resource Management from a recognized university.
  • You need 2 years' experience in project formulation, implementation, monitoring, and supervision, preferably in Women & Child Development or Social Welfare.
  • Proficiency in computers is required.

For Case Worker, including SJPU Case Worker (Rs. 18,536/month):

  • You need a Graduate degree, preferably B.A in Social Work, Sociology, or Social Sciences from a recognized university.
  • Weightage is given to candidates with work experience.
