Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) is hiring 7 temporary technical positions in Civil, Electrical and HVAC work. Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), Thiruvarur, has issued an advertisement dated 12 June 2026 for temporary engagement positions. The posts are Consultant (Civil), Junior Engineer (Civil), Technical Assistant (Electrical) and Technical Assistant (HVAC). The Consultant post is mainly for a retired senior civil engineering officer, while the Junior Engineer and Technical Assistant posts are for engineering degree or diploma holders with relevant field experience.

Total vacancies: 7 UR posts. The number of positions is tentative, and the University may decide not to fill any or all posts.

Who Can Apply?

Consultant (Civil)

• Qualification: First Class Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university
• Experience: 20 years or more engineering experience
• Retirement level: Retired at Executive Engineer / equivalent Civil cadre, Pay Level 10 or 11 or above, from Central/State Government, PSU or government autonomous bodies
• Preferred: Civil works, design, estimation, construction management, major construction projects and higher education institution experience
• Engagement period: Initial engagement for 6 months, subject to extension

Junior Engineer (Civil)

• Degree route: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with 1 year relevant experience
• Diploma route: Diploma in Civil Engineering with 3 years relevant experience
• Experience areas: Central PWD, State PWD, organised services, statutory/autonomous bodies, Central/State Universities, autonomous institutions or reputed private construction company with annual turnover of Rs. 200 crores

Technical Assistant (Electrical)

• Degree route: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 1 year relevant experience and C-Licence
• Diploma route: Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 3 years relevant experience and C-Licence
• Work area: Operation and maintenance of 11 KV substation and related electrical systems

Technical Assistant (HVAC)

• Degree route: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1 year relevant experience
• Diploma route: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Air Conditioner and Refrigeration with 3 years relevant experience
• Work area: HVAC, air conditioning, refrigeration and related facility maintenance work

Age Limit

• Consultant (Civil): Maximum 65 years
• Junior Engineer (Civil): Maximum 35 years
• Technical Assistant (Electrical): Maximum 30 years
• Technical Assistant (HVAC): Maximum 30 years
• The notification does not mention a separate age reference date; check the application form and CUTN updates before applying.

Salary

• Consultant (Civil): Rs. 65,000 per month consolidated pay
• Junior Engineer (Civil): Rs. 35,400 per month consolidated pay
• Technical Assistant (Electrical): Rs. 29,200 per month consolidated pay
• Technical Assistant (HVAC): Rs. 29,200 per month consolidated pay
• These are temporary engagement positions and do not give any right to regular or permanent employment.

Selection Process

CUTN will screen applications and may use a written test before interview for posts at serial numbers 2 to 4.

1. Application Screening: CUTN checks age, qualification, experience, community/PwD certificates and supporting documents.
2. Written Test, if required: The University may conduct a written test before interview for Junior Engineer and Technical Assistant posts.
3. Shortlisting: The University may restrict the number of candidates called for interview based on qualification and relevant experience.
4. Interview: Shortlisted candidates must attend interview and produce original documents.
5. Document Verification: Original certificates and self-attested copies must be produced at the selection stage.

Important Instructions

• Temporary posts: These engagements do not give any right for regularisation or permanent employment at CUTN.
• Original certificates: You must produce original documents at the interview stage, along with self-attested copies.
• No TA/DA: CUTN will not pay travel allowance or daily allowance for written test or interview attendance.
• Application mode: Applications received through email, incomplete forms, forms not in prescribed format or forms without required self-attested documents will not be considered.
• University decision: CUTN may restrict candidates called for interview and may decide the screening/testing mode based on qualification, relevant experience and other academic achievements.
