The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), Thiruvarur, has released Advertisement No. CUTN/TE/02/2026 for the engagement of two Counsellors on a purely temporary basis. As a Counsellor, you will run the university's mental health and well-being services — offering one-on-one and group counselling, workshops, and crisis support for students. The engagement is initially for six months and can be extended based on your performance and the university's needs. This is a temporary role and does not lead to a permanent university job. It is a good fit if you are a trained clinical or counselling psychologist who wants to work closely with students.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• M.Phil in Clinical Psychology or Rehabilitation Psychology from a university or institution recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), OR
• Ph.D in Counselling Psychology or Psychology with counselling experience.
• Experience in a government educational institution, a university counselling centre, or a reputed mental health clinic is preferred.

• You can build psycho-educational content that supports student well-being.
• You know MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and have strong verbal and written communication.
• You are familiar with a range of counselling techniques, therapeutic methods, and psychological assessment tools.
• You understand the pressures students face in competitive academic settings, and you bring empathy and sensitivity to diversity.
• Prior clinical experience in a college or university setting is an added advantage.

Note: One post is reserved for a male candidate and one for a female candidate.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 35 years (preferably).

Salary

• You will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 50,000 per month.
• This is a fixed amount — no separate DA or HRA is added on top.

Working hours: You will work 5 days a week on rotational shifts. Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays may be working days depending on the university's needs, and you should be reachable by phone after duty hours for emergencies.

Selection Process

Selection is based on an interview only — there is no written exam.
