CUP Faculty Recruitment 2026 — 5 Posts

Central University of Punjab, a Central University established under the Central Universities Act 2009 and functioning under the Ministry of Education, is hiring contractual faculty for its Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence. DACE was set up by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment to provide free quality coaching for Civil Services Examinations to SC/OBC students. There are 5 positions in total — 2 full-time and 3 part-time:

Full-Time Faculty (2 Posts)

• Faculty 1 (1 Post) — Subjects: Current affairs of national and international importance, History of India, Indian and World Geography, Economic and Social Development, Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics
• Faculty 2 (1 Post) — Subjects: Indian Society and Social Issues, Indian Polity and Governance, Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, Logical Reasoning, Environmental Ecology

Part-Time Faculty (3 Posts)

• Part-Time Faculty 1 (1 Post) — Subjects: General Mental Ability, Basic Numeracy, Data Interpretation, Current Affairs
• Part-Time Faculty 2 (1 Post) — Subjects: Comprehension, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Current Affairs
• Part-Time Faculty 3 (1 Post) — Subjects: General Science, Current Affairs

Who Can Apply?

Full-Time Faculty (Faculty 1 & Faculty 2)

• Essential: Post-Graduation/Master Degree with minimum 55% marks in Social Science subjects (History/Sociology/Political Science/Economics/Geography/Public Administration)
• Essential: UGC-NET or GATE qualified
• Desirable: Ph.D. in the concerned/allied discipline
• Desirable: Qualified UPSC/State PSC Preliminary or Mains Examination
• Desirable: Teaching experience for UPSC Civil Services/State PSC Examinations

Part-Time Faculty (Faculty 1, 2 & 3)

• Essential: Post-Graduation/Master Degree with minimum 55% marks in the concerned/allied discipline
• Essential: UGC-NET or GATE qualified
• Desirable: Qualified UPSC/State PSC Preliminary or Mains Examination
• Desirable: Experience of coaching for UPSC Civil Services Examination

Candidates with Ph.D. from foreign universities through the MHRD foreign scholarship programme are exempted from the Equivalency Certificate requirement. Medium of instruction is English.

Age Limit

• All qualifications and experience will be counted up to the last date of online applications (20 April 2026)
• Qualification acquired after the closing date will not be considered at screening/selection stage

Salary

• Full-Time Faculty: Consolidated fixed salary of Rs. 1,15,000 per month (subject to taxes)
• Part-Time Faculty: Rs. 1,000 per lecture, with a maximum limit of Rs. 30,000 per month
• Full-time faculty must be available for at least 6 hours daily with 20-25 hours of direct teaching per week
• Contractual appointees get 12 leaves per calendar year (excluding public holidays)

• SC/ST/PwBD: No fee (exempted)

Selection Process

The selection will be based on merit through the following process:

1. Screening of Applications — The university will shortlist candidates based on eligibility criteria. Stringent criteria like number of times appeared in UPSC Civil Services, number of times cleared UPSC Prelims/Mains, teaching experience in UPSC-focused coaching institutions, and publications in UPSC-related syllabus will be considered.
2. Presentation/Seminar/Interview — Shortlisted candidates will be called for a presentation, seminar, interview, or a combination of these. The university may conduct this through Video Conferencing as well.
3. Document Verification — All appointments are provisional and subject to verification of certificates through proper channels.

Note: Simply meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee an interview call. The university reserves the right to set a reasonable limit on the number of candidates called for interview.

• Assist students with answer writing practice, mock tests, and doubt-clearing sessions
• Manage study materials, question banks, and reference resources for UPSC preparation
• Monitor student progress through regular assessments and provide personalised feedback
• Work closely with the DACE Nodal Officer to plan the academic calendar and coaching schedule
• Follow the teaching schedule of 20-25 hours per week (full-time) and maintain daily attendance
• Prepare reports on student performance, batch progress, and coaching outcomes for the university and Dr. Ambedkar Foundation
