Central University of Odisha (CUO) was set up under an Act of Parliament in 2009 and is located at Sunabeda in the Koraput district of Odisha. The university has released a notice to engage 3 Guest Faculty for the Department of Sociology for the Monsoon Semester 2026-27, to cover teaching gaps until regular faculty are appointed. This is a walk-in interview based selection - there is no written exam and no online application process, so you can apply and get interviewed on the very same day.

The engagement is purely temporary. It runs for one semester and may be extended for a second semester if your performance is satisfactory, but it ends automatically the moment a regular faculty member joins that post. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale) in Sociology or a closely related/allied subject, from a recognized Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Additional requirement: Along with the Master's degree, you must have cleared UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, SLET/SET (accredited by UGC), or hold a Ph.D. in Sociology.

Eligibility follows the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Teachers, 2018. Selection is based purely on your performance in the interview - there is no written test, so you should be well prepared to discuss your subject knowledge and teaching approach on the spot.

Salary

• You will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture, subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month, based on the number of lectures you actually take.
• Guest Faculty do not get the allowances, pension, gratuity, or leave benefits that are available to regular teachers - this is an honorarium-based temporary engagement, not a salaried permanent post.
• No TA/DA (travel or daily allowance) is paid for attending the walk-in interview, so you will need to bear your own travel cost.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection happens in a single stage:

1. Walk-in Interview: Your performance in the interview alone decides your selection - there is no written exam, screening test, or shortlisting round before the interview.

Since there is only one round, come prepared with all your original documents on the day itself - there is no separate document verification stage afterward.

How to Apply

2. Fill in the form completely in block letters - incomplete applications will be rejected.
3. Paste a recent passport-size photograph on the form.
4. Gather your original certificates, mark sheets, and testimonials, along with one set of photocopies of each.
5. Report at the Guest House, CUO Main Campus, Sunabeda, Koraput, Odisha by 10:00 AM on 17 July 2026.
