CSIR Project Associate Urban Planning Recruitment 2026: Overview
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is engaging a Project Associate I in Urban and Rural Planning through its Traditional Knowledge Digital Library Unit in New Delhi. The role belongs to the project “The Importance of Traditional Wisdom: Environmental Consciousness in Vedic and other literature and its Relevance for Modern Climate Strategies”, identified as GAP-000001. Your work will connect traditional knowledge with present-day planning and environmental practice, rather than follow a routine administrative planning brief. The engagement is temporary and project-based, with the CSIR-TKDL Unit serving as the workplace.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Fixed project term: The contract runs only up to 15 January 2027 or until the project ends, whichever happens first. The appointment does not create a right to a permanent CSIR position or later absorption.
- Aggregate tenure cap: Time served by project staff across this and other CSIR laboratories or institutes cannot exceed six years in total. The unit also states that project staff will not receive an automatic upgrade within the same or a new project.
- Performance review: Your work may be reviewed periodically, and the engagement can end if performance is not found satisfactory. Either side may also end the contract with one month's notice or one month's stipend instead of notice.
- Joining formalities: A selected applicant is expected to join within the timeframe in the offer letter after completing medical examination and character verification. A discrepancy found during verification can lead to withdrawal of the offer.
- Academic completion: Your essential qualification result must already be declared, with at least a provisional certificate available. Final-semester or result-awaited applicants cannot rely on a pending qualification.
- Experience counting: Where experience is considered, CSIR counts it only after the essential qualification was acquired. Dissertation work, study time for a higher qualification, and part-time, daily-wage or visiting assignments are excluded from that calculation.
- Current employment: If you already work for another employer, bring a No-Objection Certificate to the interview. Missing or incomplete supporting material can affect verification of your application.
- Travel costs: No TA or DA is paid for attending the walk-in interview. You should plan your trip to New Delhi and any local stay at your own cost.
