CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL) has released a notification under Advertisement No. 2026/CSIR-NCL/PSC/MLP047426-8/761 to engage a Project Associate 1 for Science Communication work on a purely temporary, contract basis. This is a project-based role for someone who can turn complex science into simple, engaging stories for the public, media, and digital platforms. It is ideal for science graduates with a passion for writing, or media and journalism graduates who enjoy science.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• You should have a Master's degree in Science or Social Science, OR a Master's degree with Science Communication, OR a degree / postgraduate diploma in Journalism or Mass Communication, OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology, from a recognised university.
• Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC NET / GATE get the higher fellowship rate.

Desirable

• 6 months to 2 years of experience in science writing, journalism, editing, or content creation is preferred.
• Good command of English writing, basic design / video skills, and a genuine interest in science communication are an advantage.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is generally 35 years as on the last date of application.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/PwBD and women candidates, and 3 years for OBC candidates, as per CSIR rules.

Salary

• Fellowship up to Rs. 31,000 per month plus HRA for candidates with the prescribed qualification and NET/GATE.
• The exact amount depends on your qualification and experience, as per CSIR / Government of India norms for Project Associate.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this position. Selection is done in these steps:
