CSIR-NAL, an autonomous unit of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, has released Advertisement No. 13/2026/PS inviting applications for 89 Project Staff positions to work on various CSIR, externally-funded, and other ongoing projects at its Bengaluru campus. The engagement is purely temporary and contract-based, co-terminus with the project, with the maximum tenure across projects capped at six years. No fixed written exam is required for most posts — you are directly called for a walk-in interview based on your qualification (a written screening test may be used only if too many candidates apply for a single post).

Who Can Apply?

For Project Assistant-I/PA-I (Rs. 18,000/month):

• SSC/10th pass with ITI in Fitter trade

For Project Assistant-II/PA-II (Rs. 20,000/month):

• Diploma in Engineering/Technology (Mechanical or related field)

For Project Associate-I/PAT-I (Rs. 25,000/month):

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline (or equivalent) — freshers can apply, no experience required

For Project Associate-I (NET/GATE) (Rs. 31,000/month):

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering/Technology or M.Sc, with a valid NET/GATE score in Metallurgical Engineering-related areas

For Project Associate-II/PAT-II (Rs. 28,000/month):

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years' R&D experience, OR Master's/Integrated Master's degree (no separate experience needed), in the relevant discipline

For Project Associate-II (NET/GATE) (Rs. 35,000/month):

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years' R&D experience and a valid NET/GATE score, OR Master's/Integrated Master's degree, in the relevant discipline

For Senior PAT (Rs. 42,000/month):

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years' experience, OR Master's degree with 2 years' experience, OR Ph.D, in Electronics or Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering

Age Limit

• You should be up to 35 years old for all posts, as on the date of your Walk-in-Interview.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates get 5 years relaxation, and OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation, as per Government of India norms. You must attach documentary proof of your category to claim relaxation — otherwise you won't be permitted for the interview.

Salary

• Monthly emoluments range from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 42,000 plus HRA, depending on your post and qualification (see the Vacancy Breakdown table above).
• No TA/DA is paid for attending the Walk-in-Interview.

Selection Process

Selection happens through the following stages:

1. Screening: Your application and qualifications are checked against the post requirement. If a large number of candidates apply for one post, the Selection Committee may conduct a written test to shortlist candidates for interview.
2. Walk-in Interview: Conducted on your post's scheduled date at CSIR-NAL, Bengaluru.
3. Document Verification: You must bring your original certificates (educational qualifications with all mark sheets, experience certificates, caste certificate if applicable) with one set of photocopies.
4. Panel Formation: Selected and waitlisted candidates are placed in a panel valid for one year or till project completion, whichever is earlier.

2. Fill in the form completely and affix a recent passport-size photograph.
3. Report at CSIR-NAL (RAB Meeting Complex), Adjacent to SBI NAL Branch, Kodihalli, Bengaluru – 560017, between 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM on your post's scheduled interview date.
4. Carry your Aadhaar Card or any Government photo ID, filled application form, latest passport photo, and original certificates with one set of photocopies.
5. If you want to apply for more than one position, you must apply separately for each post.
6. No candidate is registered after 9:45 AM, so arrive on time.

• Support ongoing CSIR-NAL research and development projects in your area of specialization
