CSIR CSMCRI Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR - Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI) is building small teams for recently approved sponsored projects in environmental science and life science. The engagement covers laboratory, field and senior research-support work at the institute in Bhavnagar. Each role belongs to a different project code, so your academic background and practical exposure should match the project you choose.

This is a compact project recruitment rather than a permanent CSIR cadre intake. The institute may change the provisional number of positions during the process, and shortlisting happens before the online interview. Your application should therefore make your subject background, research exposure and project-relevant skills easy to check.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Project Associate-I under SSP-1460: supports environmental work connected with marine and coastal systems. Exposure to environmental impact assessment and field sampling is especially useful.
  • Field Assistant under GAP-2195: supports practical field and project work for candidates from zoology, microbiology, life science or environmental science.
  • Senior Project Associate under HCP-0024: handles a more experienced research-support role in life science, with marine-environment data management and modelling identified as useful experience.

Post-wise Duties

Project Associate-I

You will assist with environmental project activity, organise observations and support marine and coastal field sampling. The role suits someone who can connect MSc-level science with field records and environmental-assessment work.

Field Assistant

You will support field visits, sample handling and routine project records for the life-science and environmental team. You may need to coordinate practical tasks between the field and the institute.

Senior Project Associate

You will contribute experienced research support, organise scientific information and work with marine-environment data and models. Your earlier research-and-development work should be documented clearly because the institute checks the duration, employer and position shown in experience certificates.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: every appointment is purely temporary and ends with its sponsored project. Selection does not create a right to extension or permanent absorption in CSIR-CSMCRI.
  • Overall engagement cap: combined project-staff service across CSIR-CSMCRI and other CSIR laboratories or institutes cannot exceed six years.
  • Provisional positions: the institute may vary or cancel some or all positions while the recruitment is underway.
  • Experience proof: certificates must show the period of work, workplace and position held. Contractual work experience is not counted for the senior role under this notice.
  • Further notices: updates and changes will be placed on the institute website, so you should monitor it after sending your application.

Application Submission Notes

Send the completed application form and soft copies of your records to marineenvironment01@gmail.com. Include your detailed bio-data and a passport-size photograph with the certificates relevant to your education, test qualification and experience.

The institute will scrutinise email applications first. Only shortlisted applicants will receive the online interview details by email, so use an active address and check it after the scrutiny period.
