Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies (CIHCS) Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 - 3 Posts

Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies (CIHCS), Dahung is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, set up to preserve and teach the culture, language and Buddhist philosophy of the Himalayan region. The institute runs degree, postgraduate and research-level courses in Himalayan Buddhist studies, Tibetan language and allied subjects from its campus in West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh. Through Advertisement No. 3-313/2026/CIHCS/12 dated 22 June 2026, CIHCS has invited applications for 3 Assistant Professor posts under its Regular Teaching Staff cadre. These are regular (permanent) posts, not contractual ones, and come with a probation period of 2 years. Postgraduates in Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan (Bhoti) language or English literature can apply for these campus-based teaching roles at Dahung.

Who Can Apply?

For Bhot Boudh Shastra and Bhoti (Tibetan) (Level 10 - Rs. 56,100/month):

  • You need a Post Graduate degree with minimum 55% marks (Grade-B in a 7-point scale) in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
  • An equivalent degree from a Traditional Monastic Educational Institution is also accepted for these two posts.

For English (Level 10 - Rs. 56,100/month):

  • You need a Post Graduate degree in English with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university.
  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling here, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated with the intention of permanently settling in India from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam. Candidates in the last four categories need an eligibility certificate from the Government of India — you can be admitted to interview while this is pending, but the final appointment order will only be issued once the certificate is received.
  • Already employed candidates must apply through proper channel and produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview.
  • Meeting the minimum qualification alone does not guarantee an interview call — CIHCS will shortlist candidates based on merit.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:
