CAIR JRF Mathematics Recruitment 2026: Overview
Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is offering a Junior Research Fellow in Mathematics engagement at its Bengaluru campus. This is a research fellowship at the DRDO Complex in C.V. Raman Nagar. The notice provides for a walk-in assessment with an advance email application, so you need to complete the email requirement before attending in person.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Fellowship tenure: The initial engagement lasts two years. An extension and an upgrade to Senior Research Fellow may follow under the applicable rules; neither is automatic.
- Further study: During the fellowship, you may be allowed to register for a PhD with a recognised university or institution. The notice presents this as a possibility during your tenure.
- Employment status: The fellowship gives you no right to absorption into DRDO. Treat it as a research engagement with its own tenure conditions.
- Travel costs: CAIR will not pay TA/DA for attending or for joining after selection. You need to make your own travel arrangements.
- Campus restrictions: Mobile phones, pen drives, laptops, optical discs and smart watches cannot be taken inside the campus. Plan around these restrictions before you travel.
- Parking: CAIR will not provide vehicle parking, and the notice says public parking is unavailable nearby. It advises using public transport.
- Joining and cancellation: Your background will be checked again when you join. CAIR may cancel the selection process or selection, and attendance does not create a right to an offer.

Report at CAIR Main Gate Reception, DRDO Complex, C.V. Raman Nagar, Bengaluru 560093 between 08:00 and 09:30 on the interview day. Late arrivals cannot participate, so allow enough travel time to reach the gate within that reporting window.

Minimum Qualification
First-division MSc in Mathematics from an AICTE-accredited institute/university with NET/GATE qualification.
Required Skills
Desirable: knowledge of lattice-based cryptography and proficiency in C and Python.
Age Limit
Up to 28 years (as on 30 Oct 2026)
Age Relaxation:

Exam Pattern
You will take a written test from 10:00 on 24 November 2026. If you qualify, you will attend an interview the same day. The notice does not specify the question count, marks, duration, subjects, negative marking or test language.
The final merit list is based on interview performance. If the selected person declines, the offer goes to the next person on that list.
