BRIC NABI Multi Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI) is recruiting project staff for its Food and Nutritional Biotechnology Division in Mohali. The institute works under the Department of Biotechnology, and these assignments support research on crops, food quality and nutrition. The engagement is project-based, with work spread across core research and externally funded studies.

• Research Associate, plant exosomes: a core project led by Dr Vikas Rishi examines plant-derived vesicles and their effects on fat-cell development.

• Research Associate-I, pearl millet: Dr Rupam Kumar Bhunia leads GAP-94, which studies genes linked to flour rancidity and nutritional quality.
• Research Associate-I and Field/Lab Assistant, Brassica: GAP-114 under Dr Sivasubramanian R studies resistance to necrotrophic pathogens and its potential transfer to Indian mustard.
• Senior Research Fellow, rice: GAP-78 under Dr Rajeev Nayan Bahuguna examines yield and grain nutrients under higher day and night temperatures.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Research Fellow, tomato

You will identify seed-specific bZIP transcription factors and develop knockout lines through plant tissue culture. The work connects molecular research with the study of tomato seed development.

Research Associate-I, pearl millet

You will identify candidate genes, transform CRISPR constructs and screen edited lines. The assignment also includes lipid analysis using gas chromatography.

Research Associate-I, Brassica

You will work with the project team on sequencing and phenotyping Brassica carinata germplasm. Your analysis will cover genetic variants, genome-wide associations, population genomics and phenotyping results, alongside reports and research papers.

Senior Research Fellow, rice

You will conduct and assist with molecular biology and omics analysis in rice. This work supports the project's investigation of crop responses to warmer growing conditions.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: the assignments initially run for one year. They are temporary project engagements.
• Extensions: the pearl millet and Brassica research associate assignments may continue after a review of research progress and performance. The Field/Lab Assistant extension also depends on funding and project needs.
• Research associate level: for the exosome assignment, a committee may recommend an upgrade in exceptional cases based on progress and performance.
• Travel expenses: the institute will not pay TA/DA for attending the interview.
• Application accuracy: changes will not be accepted after submission. Results will be placed on the institute website.
