Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has released a notification for 154 non-management posts across 4 disciplines at its Mumbai Refinery and Kochi Refinery. These are entry-level diploma posts with a starting basic pay of Rs. 26,500 per month, making this one of the most attractive PSU openings for diploma holders this year. Who Can Apply?

For Post Codes A & B (Process Technician/Operator - Chemical):

• Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology through a full-time regular AICTE-approved course.

For Post Code C (Technician/Operator - Mechanical):

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering through a full-time regular AICTE-approved course.

For Post Code D (Technician - Electrical):

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Electrical Power System / Electrical Engineering (Industrial Control) through a full-time regular AICTE-approved course.

Common conditions for all posts:

• Minimum Marks: 60% aggregate for General, EWS and OBC (NCL) candidates; 50% aggregate for SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved vacancies.
• Experience: At least 1 year of relevant post-qualification work experience OR 1 year of apprenticeship training (under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961) in a Refining/Petroleum/Power/Lube/Petrochemical/Fertilizer industry of repute, reckoned as on 01 July 2026.
• Candidates with higher qualifications like B.E., B.Tech or A.M.I.E. are NOT eligible for these diploma-level posts.
• Diplomas obtained through part-time, correspondence or distance learning are not accepted.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 25 years old as on 01 July 2026 (General/EWS candidates).
• Age Relaxation: OBC (NCL) — 3 years; SC/ST — 5 years; PwBD — 10 years (up to 15 years for SC/ST PwBD candidates, up to 13 years for OBC (NCL) PwBD candidates).
• Ex-Servicemen: Can deduct actual military service period from their age; combined age relaxation across categories is capped at 15 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates will start at a minimum basic pay of Rs. 26,500 per month in the NG-2 grade, in the pay scale of Rs. 26,500 - Rs. 34,000.
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA) on the Industrial pattern, plus other allowances and benefits as per BPCL rules.
• Candidates joining from other CPSUs/PSUs or Central/State Government through proper channel can get their last drawn basic pay protected, up to the NG-2 grade maximum of Rs. 34,000.

Application Fee

• General / EWS / OBC (NCL): Rs. 590 (Rs. 500 application fee + Rs. 90 GST at 18%), plus payment gateway charges if any.
• SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: No fee.
• Payment mode: Online, through payment gateway only.
• SC/ST/PwBD candidates who appear for the CBT and SPT will also be reimbursed second-class sleeper rail fare, if the distance is 30 km or more.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): You will get 100 objective questions for 100 marks in 120 minutes. The paper has two sections — Domain Knowledge (60 marks) and General Aptitude covering English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and General Awareness/Current Affairs (40 marks). There is no negative marking, and the test is conducted in English only.
2. Skill/Proficiency Test (SPT): Candidates who clear the CBT cut-off will be called for a qualifying-nature skill test at their respective refinery location.
3. Pre-Employment Medical Examination: Your final appointment depends on meeting BPCL's medical fitness standards.
