Service Conditions and Caveats

• Entry track: Assistant Professor (Grade II) candidates without a completed PhD join under the Faculty Development Programme on a one-year appointment, renewed annually for up to six years while they finish their doctorate.
• Tenure track: New appointments to Assistant Professor (Grade I) and above start as "temporary against a regular position" and convert to regular status after a favourable performance review.
• Superannuation: Regular faculty can serve until superannuation, with periodic performance-based extensions available for senior faculty who continue to perform well.
• Relocation support: BITS reimburses baggage-shifting and travel expenses for candidates joining from within India, with a higher reimbursement ceiling for those joining from abroad.
• Campus choice: You can apply to more than one campus, but a separate departmental short-listing and interview process runs for each campus you choose.

Application Submission Notes

Apply only through the online faculty recruitment portal — BITS does not accept CVs sent by email or post. After department and university-level short-listing, you may be asked to give a technical seminar on your research background and teaching plans before the selection committee, either in person or over video conferencing, and your referees may be contacted for reference letters. If you don't hear back within three months of applying, you can write to the Dean, Faculty Affairs Division for a status update.
