Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) is building a panel of Academic Associates and Senior Academic Associates for its Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. These are full-time, non-tenured academic-support roles designed to help faculty run courses, laboratories and student-learning activities across several technical and management departments. The role sits between classroom teaching and academic operations, so you may support a tutorial in one part of the day and coordinate assessment or laboratory work in another. The department and campus selected in the recruitment portal determine the exact subject area and daily work.

Posts and Disciplines

• Electrical and Electronics Engineering: Support is required across communication engineering, networking, microelectronics, VLSI design, embedded systems, power electronics, energy systems, instrumentation, control, signal processing and machine learning.
• Computer Science and Information Systems: The work may cover programming, data structures, algorithms, networks, operating systems, databases, AI and machine learning, computer architecture, FPGA and system-level programming.
• Economics and Finance: Academic support spans economics, finance, management, econometrics, financial and development economics, data-led analysis and quantitative economics. This stream is not open at the Hyderabad campus in this call.

Post-wise Duties

Instructional Support

You will help faculty conduct tutorials, prepare learning material, coordinate multi-section courses and evaluate assignments and assessments. The position also gives you room to contribute to teaching improvements and new classroom methods under faculty guidance.

Laboratory Support

You will assist during laboratory instruction, demonstrations, viva sessions and practical assessment. You may also manage equipment and resources, guide students through experiments and help develop new laboratory modules while following safety rules.

Student and Course Support

You will work closely with students and teaching teams to keep course delivery organised and consistent. Depending on the department, this can include mentoring, solving technical queries and coordinating the academic records and workflows needed for smooth course delivery.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Appointment: The initial engagement is for two years, with continuation considered each year after that. Extension depends on satisfactory performance and the Institute's continuing need.
• Status: These are full-time, non-tenured positions and do not amount to a regular faculty appointment.
• Accommodation: On-campus housing is not provided, so you should plan for your own accommodation near the selected campus.
• Higher studies: After the prescribed service period, associates may seek support for a part-time BITS Pilani M.E. or Ph.D. programme. Admission and sponsorship depend on the relevant entrance process and are not automatic.
• Department allocation: Responsibilities can change with academic and institutional needs, even within the selected subject area.
