BERC CGRF Third Member Recruitment 2026: Overview

Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) is appointing Third Members to the company-level Consumer Grievance Redressal Forums of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), both based in Patna. These are independent, whole-time positions created under the Electricity Act and BERC's consumer-grievance regulations. The role is meant to bring a consumer-protection voice into electricity-dispute resolution, so it suits people who can assess complaints fairly and work independently of the distribution companies.

Posts and Disciplines

• NBPDCL Company-level CGRF: The member will work with the forum handling consumer grievances connected with North Bihar's distribution company.
• SBPDCL Company-level CGRF: The member will serve the corresponding forum for South Bihar's distribution company.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Independent status: You must not have worked for or acted as an agent of an electricity distribution licensee during the required cooling-off period.
• Existing forum members: A person who has worked or is working as a Third Member of an NBPDCL or SBPDCL supply-circle CGRF cannot move into this company-level post through this notice.
• Whole-time role: The selected member cannot take up other part-time or honorary work while holding the post.
• Fixed tenure: The initial appointment is for a defined term or until the prescribed retirement age, whichever comes first. BERC may consider a further extension when performance is satisfactory.
• Posting flexibility: BERC can place the selected person with either the NBPDCL or SBPDCL company-level forum in Patna.
• Conduct: Insolvency, conviction involving moral turpitude, conflicting financial interests, proved misconduct, abuse of position or political-party membership can disqualify a member.
• Exit notice: The member and the appointing authority are each expected to give written notice before an early exit or removal, subject to the regulatory terms.
• Commission discretion: BERC may cancel the selection process at any stage without making an appointment.
