The District Urban Development Cell (DUDC), Bengaluru Urban is filling 142 Pourakarmika (sanitation worker/helper-cleaner) posts across the Madanayakanahalli and Hebbagodi municipalities. The District Urban Development Cell (DUDC), Bengaluru Urban has issued Notification No. ಜಿನಕೋ/ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ/ನೇರಪಾವತಿ/ಸಿಆರ್/225/2026-27 dated 20 July 2026 to fill 142 vacant Pourakarmika posts on a direct-payment (daily wage) basis across the Madanayakanahalli and Hebbagodi municipalities. Preference is given to candidates who have already worked as temporary sanitation workers, loaders, or UGD helpers for at least one year in these municipalities, and one family member of a Pourakarmika who died on duty (including COVID-19 deaths) will also be considered. Freshers without prior civic-work experience can apply for the remaining posts once the priority categories are covered. The number of vacancies at each municipality was worked out using the government norm of one Pourakarmika for every 700 residents, based on 2024 population figures.

10% of the vacant posts are reserved for identified manual scavengers or their family members under the Manual Scavengers Act. Note that this recruitment does not follow the usual SC/ST/OBC reservation rules of the Karnataka Reservation Act.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: No minimum educational qualification is required for this post.
• Language: You must know Kannada.
• Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen.
• Priority 1: Candidates who have worked as a temporary Pourakarmika, loader, UGD helper, or cleaner for at least one year in these municipalities get preference (submit ESI/PF/wage or attendance proof).
• Priority 2: One family member of a Pourakarmika who died on duty (including COVID-19 deaths) can apply under this quota.
• Priority 3: Identified manual scavengers or their family members get a 10% reservation in the vacant posts.

Salary

• Selected Pourakarmikas will get the minimum wage fixed by the Karnataka Labour Department, revised from time to time.
• You will also get PF (Provident Fund) and ESI (health insurance) benefits as applicable.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test or interview for this recruitment. Selection works like this:

1. Application Screening: Your application and supporting documents (ESI/PF/wage or attendance proof) are checked against the eligibility and priority criteria.
2. Priority Order: Preference goes first to experienced temporary sanitation staff, then to family members of deceased Pourakarmikas, then to identified manual scavengers or their families (10% quota).
3. Lottery (if tied): If multiple candidates with the same age and length of service compete for the same post, selection is done by lottery.

If a selected candidate does not join within the given time, the next candidate on the waitlist is offered the post instead. The selection list stays valid until all 142 posts are filled, or for one year, whichever happens first.

This is a temporary, direct-payment engagement — it does not carry regularization, pension, or gratuity benefits, and selected workers must submit a notary affidavit accepting these conditions.
