BARC has released notification for 21 Scientific Officer and Technical Officer (Medical) posts at BARC Mumbai, RMC Mumbai, and RMRC Kolkata. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can MBBS freshers apply for BARC Scientific Officer posts?
Only for Scientific Officer-C (General Duty/Casualty Medical Officer) -- you need MBBS with just 1 year of institutional experience. All other posts require a PG degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist medical care and consultation in the assigned discipline

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

MBBS with relevant PG degree (MD/MS/DNB/DM) for Scientific Officer posts. M.Sc. (60%) with DMRIT/DNMT/DFIT or M.Sc. Nuclear Medicine Technology (60%) for Technical Officer posts.

Preferred Qualification

For Technical Officer-D (Nuclear Medicine Technology): 4 years experience in a full-fledged Nuclear Medicine Centre having PET/CT Scanner and GAMMA camera/SPECT/CT System is preferred.

Required Skills

Medical specialization in Cardiology, Hospital Administration, ENT, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, or Nuclear Medicine. Clinical experience in hospital setting.

18 - 50 years (as on 27 Feb 2026)

Experience varies by post: Scientific Officer-C requires 1 year institutional experience after MBBS. Scientific Officer-D requires PG degree (no additional experience for most posts, 3 years after PG Diploma for Radiodiagnosis/Nuclear Medicine). Scientific Officer-E (Cardiology) requires 2 years after DM. Scientific Officer-E (Hospital Administrator) requires 8 years total (3 years as Hospital Administrator in minimum 100-bed hospital). Scientific Officer-E (Nuclear Medicine) requires 4 years after PG qualification.
