BARC Scientific Officer and Technical Officer Recruitment 2026

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has released a recruitment notification for 21 Scientific Officer and Technical Officer (Medical) posts. These are permanent government positions at BARC Hospital Mumbai, Radiation Medicine Centre (RMC) Mumbai, and Regional Radiation Medicine Centre (RRMC) Kolkata.

The recruitment covers medical specialist posts in the following areas:

• Cardiologist
• Hospital Administrator
• ENT Specialist
• Radiology
• Ophthalmology
• Pathology
• Anaesthesiology
• General Duty / Casualty Medical Officer
• Nuclear Medicine (Scientific Officer and Technical Officer)

15 posts are at BARC Mumbai, 2 posts at RMC Mumbai, and 4 posts at RRMC Kolkata.

Who Can Apply

• Scientific Officer posts: MBBS with relevant Post Graduate degree (MD/MS/DNB/DM/Diploma) in the concerned specialty
• Technical Officer posts: M.Sc. with Diploma in the relevant field

Age Limit (as on 27 February 2026)

• Scientific Officer-C: 35 years
• Scientific Officer-D / Technical Officer-D: 40 years
• Scientific Officer-E: 50 years
• Age relaxation available for SC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen as per government rules

Salary

• Level 10: Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 per month
• Level 11: Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700 per month
• Level 12: Rs. 78,800 - Rs. 2,09,200 per month
• Medical Officers will also get Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) in addition to basic pay

Selection Process

Selection will be based on a personal interview. If the number of applications is very large, a screening test may be held before the interview.

• Free for SC / ST / Women / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen candidates

Work Location

Selected candidates will be posted at BARC Mumbai, RMC Mumbai, or RRMC Kolkata. However, they may be posted anywhere in India as per the needs of the Department of Atomic Energy.

• Provide specialist medical care to patients in the assigned department
• Carry out diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients
• Handle emergency and casualty duties as assigned
• Maintain proper medical records and documentation
• Participate in research activities related to radiation medicine and nuclear science
• Work in shifts including emergency and on-call duties as needed
• Follow safety protocols for working in a nuclear research facility
• Guide and train junior medical staff and residents
