BARC Research Associate Recruitment 2026 - 56 Posts

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, has released Advertisement No. 3/2026(R-V) for 56 Research Associate fellowship positions. These positions are spread across 25 different R&D projects covering nuclear chemistry, chemical engineering, laser and plasma technologies, accelerator physics, agriculture and biotechnology, and more. Selection is through interview only -- there is no written exam. Ph.D. holders in relevant fields of Science and Engineering should apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Most Research Projects (Projects 1-20, 22-25):

  • Qualification: You need a Ph.D. in the relevant field -- Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biotechnology, Agriculture, or related disciplines depending on the project.
  • Provisional Ph.D.: If you have a Provisional or Regular Ph.D., you will be treated at par with Research Associates and can apply.
  • Awaiting Evaluation: If you have submitted your Ph.D. thesis but are still awaiting evaluation, you are not eligible.

For Project 21 (Muon Tomography):

  • Qualification: B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech / M.E. in Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Experience: 1 year experience in relevant areas like high-speed digital systems, Monte Carlo simulations, or data acquisition is preferred.

Age Limit

Fellowship Amount

  • RA-I: Rs. 58,000 per month + Contingency Grant of Rs. 60,000 per year + HRA as applicable

Selection is based on interview only:

  1. Application Screening: Your application will be screened based on qualifications and experience. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
  2. Selection Interview: The interview committee will evaluate you based on:
    • Quality of your Ph.D. thesis
    • Post-Ph.D. research experience (publications, products/processes developed)
    • Performance in the interview
  3. Document Verification: You must bring the original copies of all documents and a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License, College ID, or Voter ID) at the time of interview.

  • Carry out research and development work under R&D projects of BARC guided by senior scientists

  • Prepare research papers, reports, and documentation of experimental outcomes

  • Work on computational modelling, simulation, and data analysis as required by the project
  • Assist in planning and performing experiments, manuscript preparation, and coordination with collaborators
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working in nuclear and chemical research facilities
