Assam University Faculty Recruitment 2026 - 123 Posts

Assam University, Silchar has issued Employment Notification No. 2/2026 dated 26 May 2026 for faculty recruitment across regular, backlog reserved and leave vacancies. The recruitment covers departments such as Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science, Education, Law, Life Science, Pharmacy, Social Work, Sanskrit, Political Science and many more. The online form opened on 06 June 2026, and the university will screen applications department-wise before calling shortlisted candidates for the next stage.

• Regular faculty vacancies: 90 posts across Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor departments
• Backlog reserved vacancies: 24 posts, including Professor and Associate Professor backlog posts

Who Can Apply?

Professor Posts

• Qualification: You need the required teaching and research qualification prescribed by UGC Regulations 2018 and the concerned regulatory body.
• Experience: Senior teaching and research experience is required as per UGC rules for Professor level posts.
• Departments: Posts are available in subjects such as Agricultural Engineering, Education, English, Hindi, Mathematics, Political Science, Life Science, Mass Communication and others.

Associate Professor Posts

• Qualification: You need the required postgraduate degree, Ph.D. and academic record as per UGC/AICTE/NCTE/PCI rules for the subject.
• Experience: Teaching or research experience will be checked according to the applicable academic-level rules.
• Backlog posts: Several Associate Professor vacancies are reserved backlog posts for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD categories.

Assistant Professor Posts

• Qualification: You need the relevant postgraduate or professional qualification with NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D. wherever required by UGC or the concerned statutory body.
• Specialisation: Some departments list specific subject areas such as Physical Anthropology, Mathematical Sciences, Bioprocess Technology, Educational Technology, Bioinformatics, Pharmacy and Law.
• Relaxation: A 5% marks relaxation is available at Bachelor and Master level for SC, ST, OBC non-creamy layer and differently-abled candidates as per UGC rules.

Salary

• Professor: Academic Level 14, Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month
• Associate Professor: Academic Level 13A, Rs. 1,31,400 to Rs. 2,17,100 per month
• Assistant Professor: Academic Level 10, Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month
• Allowances: DA and other allowances are payable as per UGC, Ministry of Education and Government of India rules.

Application Fee

• UR / OBC / EWS: Rs. 1,000 application fee
• Women / SC / ST / PwBD applying against reserved vacancies: No application fee, but Rs. 500 postal expenses must be paid
• Payment mode: Online payment through Internet Banking, Debit Card or Credit Card on the application portal
• Refund: Fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted for another post.

Selection Process

The university will first check qualification, experience, category, specialisation and uploaded documents. Meeting the minimum eligibility does not automatically mean you will be called for interview.

1. Application Screening: Screening committees will review applications for each department and post.
2. Shortlisting or Written Test: If applications are high, Assam University may use stricter shortlisting criteria or a written test before interview.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed by post or email for interview.
4. Document Verification: Original qualification, experience, reservation and No Objection Certificate documents will be checked before appointment.

1. Go to the CU-Chayan portal at curec.samarth.ac.in.
2. Register yourself and fill the online form for the required post, campus and department.
3. Upload your photograph, signature, qualification certificates, experience proof and other required documents.
4. Pay the applicable fee or postal expenses online.
5. Submit the online form and download the filled application PDF before 10 July 2026.
6. Print and sign the application, attach self-attested documents, and send it to Deputy Registrar, Room No. 103, Raja Rammohan Roy Administrative Building, Assam University, Silchar - 788011, Cachar, Assam.
7. Write the post applied for, campus and advertisement number on the envelope before sending it by Speed Post, Registered Post or courier.

Important Application Conditions

• Separate form: Submit a separate online application for each post, campus or department you choose.
• Hard copy rule: The printed application with self-attested documents must be sent after online submission.
• NOC: If you are already employed, route the application through proper channel or submit a No Objection Certificate before interview.
