ASMC Bahraich Medical Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

Maharaja Suheldev Autonomous State Medical College (ASMC), Bahraich and its teaching hospital, Maharshi Balark Chikitsalay, are hiring Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors on a contract basis. The openings are spread over 24 departments, from pre-clinical subjects like Anatomy and Physiology to clinical branches like Emergency Medicine, Radiotherapy and Psychiatry.

There is no written test. You simply walk in to the Principal's office in Bahraich with your form and documents, and a selection committee interviews you the same day. Retired professors from government medical colleges can also be engaged as contract Professors under a 2018 UP government order.

• Professor: Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), Microbiology, Radiotherapy and Radio Diagnosis.
• Associate Professor: Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Blood Bank, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, General Medicine, General Surgery, TB and Chest, Skin and VD, Pathology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Radiotherapy, Radio Diagnosis and Psychiatry.
• Assistant Professor: Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anatomy, Anaesthesia, ENT, Community Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, TB and Chest, Skin and VD, Paediatrics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry and Radio Diagnosis.
• Community Medicine: the unreserved Assistant Professor seats in this department are for the Medical Officer Health cum Lecturer / Assistant Professor role.
• Category-wise seats: every seat is tied to one category (General, OBC, SC or EWS) within its department. Check the department-wise table in the notice to confirm a seat is open for your category before you travel.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Qualification standard: Your degree and teaching experience must meet the NMC norms for medical teachers in your specialty.
• Contract term: The contract runs for one year. If no regular teacher is available, it can be extended based on your satisfactory work.
• Exit terms: Your contract ends at once when a regular teacher joins. Either side can also end it with one month's notice or one month's contract pay.
• Fixed pay only: You get a fixed monthly amount with no allowances, bonus, pension or other service benefits.
• No regularisation: Your agreement will state that you will not claim a permanent post on the basis of this contract.
• Private practice: Not allowed on your OPD days. If you practise privately, you must name the place, never push patients to see you privately, and stay available for emergency and disaster duty at the college.
• Joining: You must join the college within 15 days of signing the agreement.
• No transfers: Contract teachers stay at ASMC Bahraich and are not transferred.
• Declaration: At the interview you give a declaration or affidavit accepting that your service ends if any adverse fact about you comes to light.
• Posts may change: The college can increase or reduce the number of posts.
