Andaman Public Works Department (APWD) Superintending Engineer (Civil) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has released a vacancy circular for one (01) post of Superintending Engineer (Civil), General Central Service, Group 'A' Gazetted (Ministerial), in the Andaman Public Works Department on deputation (Including Short Term Contract) basis. This is a senior engineering post and is open to officers from the Central Government, State Government, UT Administration, PSUs, Universities, Research Institutions, Semi-Government bodies, Autonomous Organisations and Statutory Bodies. The posting is at Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Who Can Apply?

Deputation Conditions (any one)

• Officers holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre/department, OR
• With 5 years service in Level-12 (Rs. 78,800 - 2,09,200) on regular basis, OR
• With 10 years service in Level-11 (Rs. 67,700 - 2,08,700) on regular basis

Essential Qualification and Experience

• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University/Institute, OR passed Part 'A' & 'B' Examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) in Civil Engineering
• 10 years experience in Planning or Execution or Maintenance of Civil Engineering projects

Note: Departmental officers in the feeder category in the direct line of promotion will not be eligible for consideration on deputation. Deputationists are not eligible for promotion.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications
• The period of deputation, including any prior deputation in another ex-cadre post, shall ordinarily not exceed 5 years

Salary

• Pay scale: Pay Level-13 (Rs. 1,23,100 - Rs. 2,15,900 per month) as per 7th CPC
• Dearness Allowance (DA) as admissible from time to time
• Special Compensatory Allowance and Island Special Allowance as per rules
• Rent-free unfurnished accommodation subject to general review
• Free sea passage once a year for self and family while proceeding on leave
• Deputation allowance as admissible under rules

Selection Process

Selection is done through scrutiny of applications forwarded by the parent department. There is no written exam for this deputation post.

1. Forwarding by parent department with Bio-data, Cadre Clearance, Vigilance Clearance, Integrity Certificate and ACR dossier of last 5 years
2. Scrutiny of applications by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration
3. Selection based on suitability, experience, and ACR record

• Supervise planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects under APWD

• Lead a circle of Executive Engineers and field staff on assigned projects
• Ensure adherence to PWD codes, CPWD specifications, and quality control standards
• Coordinate with the Chief Engineer, A&N Administration, and other departments on project delivery
• Prepare progress reports, utilisation certificates, and project audit responses
