A&N Administration is hiring 716 Group B (NG) and Group C posts through the Combined Higher Secondary Level Recruitment Examination (CHSLRE) 2026. If you have passed 12th Class and meet the post-wise typing, science, trade, physical or shipping certificate requirements, you can apply online. Andaman & Nicobar Administration has released Advertisement No. 02/HSL/2026 for Higher Secondary Level posts across several departments, including Secretariat, Environment and Forests, Shipping Service, Port Management Board, Municipal Council, Agriculture, Health, Education and other offices. This is a single combined recruitment notice, so one application window covers many posts and candidates can choose posts in order of preference. Who Can Apply?
Common 12th-Level Posts
- Basic qualification: Most posts need Senior Secondary / 12th Class from a recognised board or university.
- Clerk and typist posts: You need 12th pass plus typing speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi on computer, or the manual typewriter speed mentioned in the annexure.
- Stenographer posts: You need 12th pass plus 80 wpm shorthand and typing speed of 40 wpm manual or 45 wpm on computer.
- Science and lab posts: Laboratory, agriculture, soil conservation, fisheries and field posts usually need 12th with Science/Biology or a related diploma/certificate.
- IT posts: IT Analyst and Computer Assistant roles need a computer diploma, post diploma/PG diploma, one-year computer application/programming certificate or higher IT qualification such as BCA/MCA/B.Tech IT as stated in the annexure.
- Shipping posts: Master, Chief Engine Driver and Marine Radio Operator posts need 12th pass plus the relevant competency certificate, GMDSS/RTIM certificate, swimming/vision requirement or sea-going experience as applicable.
Age Limit
- Group B (NG): 18 to 30 years.
- Group C male candidates: 18 to 33 years.
- Group C female candidates: 18 to 38 years.
- Age date: Age is counted as on the closing date, 05 July 2026.
- ST: 5 years relaxation. OBC: 3 years relaxation.
- PwBD: 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC and 15 years for ST, as per the notice.
- Ex-Servicemen and eligible government/contract employees: relaxation applies as per the A&N Administration and Government of India rules stated in the notice.
Salary
- Pay Level 2: Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month for many clerical, typist, field and sales posts.
- Pay Level 3: Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 per month for posts such as Laboratory Assistant, Patwari and Village Level Worker.
- Pay Level 4: Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month for stenography, lab, store, IT, tally and marine radio roles.
- Pay Level 5: Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month for Mechanical Foreman and Forester.
- Pay Level 6: Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month for Master 1st Class and Chief Engine Driver posts.
- You may also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Andaman & Nicobar Administration rules.
Physical Standards
Forester Post
- Height: General male 163 cm, general female 150 cm; ST male 152 cm, ST female 145 cm.
- Chest: Chest standards are prescribed in the annexure for male and female candidates.
- Endurance: Male candidates must complete 25 km walk and female candidates must complete 14 km walk within 4 hours.
- Training: Selected Forester candidates must complete the required forestry training course.

- Female / ST / PwBD candidates: No fee

Selection Process
The recruitment will be done through a Tablet Based Test (TBT) followed by post-wise qualifying tests where needed.
- Tier I - TBT Online Examination: All online applicants are expected to appear for the objective exam.
- Tier II - Physical / Skill / Trade Test: This is qualifying in nature and applies only to posts where the annexure or recruitment rules require it, such as typing, stenography, forest, shipping, IT and trade roles.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must upload and produce original certificates for online/in-person verification.
- Final Merit: Final selection is based on TBT merit and post preference, subject to qualifying the required Tier II test and document verification.

Minimum Qualification

Exam Pattern
A&N CHSLRE 2026 Exam Pattern
The Tier I exam is a Tablet Based Test (TBT) with objective questions. The notice gives 120 minutes for regular candidates and compensatory time for eligible scribe/PwBD candidates.
- English Language / General English: 50 questions for 50 marks
- General Intelligence: 50 questions for 50 marks
- Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions for 50 marks
- General Awareness: 50 questions for 50 marks
- Total: 200 questions for 200 marks
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks will be cut for each wrong answer
- Language: General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness questions will be in English and Hindi
- Tier II: Physical Standard/Endurance Test, Skill Test or Trade Test is qualifying where applicable for the post
