Amritsar District Administration is hiring 1 Aspirational Block Fellow under the NITI Aayog Aspirational Blocks Programme in Punjab. If you have a postgraduate degree in any discipline, you can apply online and offline before 20 August 2026. You should be between 25 and 40 years old. The fellow will get a stipend of Rs. 55,000 per month.
Amritsar District Administration Aspirational Block Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar has released an advertisement to fill 1 post of Aspirational Block Fellow under the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), a nationwide initiative launched by the Government of India on 7 January 2023 and anchored by NITI Aayog. The programme covers 500 blocks across 27 states and 4 Union Territories, and works to improve governance and quality of life in the most underdeveloped blocks of the country. The AB Fellow will work closely with block-level officials and under the guidance of the District Magistrate, Amritsar to speed up development work in the district. Preference is given to candidates from Punjab who understand local issues, though candidates from anywhere in India can apply. The fellowship is for 1 year initially, with a possible one-year extension based on performance.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: Postgraduate degree in any discipline from a reputed institution
- Skills: Data analysis and presentation skills, project management skills, and good communication skills
- Preferred: Prior work or internship experience with a development organization, and higher education in the development or rural stream
- Language: You should be able to read, write and speak Punjabi
- Other: Comfortable using social media for outreach and monitoring work
Age Limit
- You should be between 25 and 40 years old as on 1 August 2026.
Salary
- The selected Aspirational Block Fellow will get a stipend of Rs. 55,000 per month.
- No TA/DA will be paid separately during the recruitment process.

Selection Process
The selection will be done in 2 stages:
- Screening of Application: Your application form will be checked for eligibility.
- On-the-Spot Assignment and Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an on-the-spot assignment followed by a personal interview. Final selection is purely merit-based.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Block level officials to plan and execute Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) strategies
- Conduct regular field visits to check project progress and spot problems on the ground
- Analyze local data and prepare evidence-based recommendations for district officials
- Organize workshops, awareness camps and skill-building programs for the local community
- Update state officials and NITI Aayog about issues, challenges and support needed
- Support the District Administration, Amritsar with any other assigned development work
